Arizona Chickens

How about an Elvis 8-track? LOL

I always hated 8 tracks when I only wanted to hear one song.

Soooo... first time for crickets today!! It's been soooooooo exciting and it's really funny to see how excited the chickens get about it. I thought they liked corn and greens, MAN! That's nothing compared to some live crickets. Daisy seems to be the only one proficient at actually catching them though. So I also gave them some dead grasshoppers too, which are a hit. Funny to see chickens beg. The cricket video is a little longer with chase scenes and some drama. The grasshopper one is short and sweet.

Hi! I am in Casa Grande. I have several chickens and so far so good! My husband put in a mister for them and they just love it! We also have lots of tarps ($3.00 at Big Lots) for shade and, of course, they have their coop; well, they actually have 2 places to g; one is an old wooden kitchen table that has been enclose on 3 sides and then they have their regular "house". Lots of shade and moist (not wet) ground seems to keep them happy. I also have a large pan with muddy water in it for them. They like to walk in and out of it when the mister isn't on. I keep several containers of water around their pen for them to. Of course, it is only just now starting to be over 100' daily, so I may find out that I have to do things differently. I will keep y'all posted on our progress here in Az. Thank you for your post from Az.! chisandchicks (Chihuahuas and chickens) in Az. Lol.

Welcome newcomers!!!! I would suggest checking out the natural chicken keeping thred here https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...eeping-thread-ots-welcome/15210#post_11286948 and the heritage large fowl thred here https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/400344/heritage-large-fowl-thread/12270#post_11278105 both are great threds with great information.

I picked up some Heritage Rhode Island Reds today from DesertMarcy, who has tons of beautiful birds on her beautiful property, and they are the calmest chickens I've ever seen! They took to our yard like a pig to mud lol

We've resorted to calling our pullets - bird brains - since we can't tell them all apart (3 RIR, 3 Black australorps, 3 EE and 1 SLW). Obviously the SLW we can tell apart and she's Ms Ginny. The RIRs are all usually referred to as Mrs Paul and the exception of one EE who is really red and has no beard - she's Spotlynn. Collectively as a whole, they are bird brains - LOL!

I do not know what to say about 8 tracks, mine was in a LandRover. Got jammed, dust and dirt from 4 wheeling in the 60's. my first record was. Piaf of Paris, by Edith Piaf, my second and third was Sons Of The Pioners staring Roy Rogers, then came Buddy Holly that my Sister took and never returned. ('55-'60) :hit But I got to visited the BUDDY HOLLY museum. :gig that is when I found out what happened to my 45 record . . . . In 2006. No she doesn't have it any more and insisted it was hers in the first place. :lau we are sisters after all. :love :hugs

We had been in our house for about three years before we got chickens. Never heard crickets in that time. I decided it would be fun to watch the chicks chase crickets around so I brought a few home from the pet store. It was pretty fun watching the chicks chase the crickets around, but now I hear crickets around the house and I now pay $65 every two months for pest control services.

In my opinion I was better off feeding them meal worms for their treats.
