Hi

The mountain is really burning now.
It's such a beautiful, but sad sight. It's a natural event that should be happening in a routine basis, but good ol' mankind has interfered and made things worse. And we continue to prevent letting nature take it's course. Unfortunately, Mother Nature fought back and showed her supremacy today in claiming the lives of 19 heroic firefighters. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved. From those who lost their lives, to their friends and families, and to the safety of everyone still out there. Being in law enforcement, the sudden loss hits close to home.

We have had the winds and lightening since Friday night, when the fires started. Wish it would rain though.

Yes, Demosthine......hit too close to home. The community center and fire dept here are full of mourners. My prayers are also with the families of those firefighters.

Wow, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family's of those firefighters.

We got rain and lots of wind here in Casa Grande, enough to cool the girls off in the coop. I had to move their water inside the coop because the wind keeps blowing it over!!

Prayers are appreciated up here... my friend's young son was lost today, one of the hot shots that perished in the fire. He was such an outstanding young man - we did his senior photos just a few years ago and his little brother's pics just a few weeks ago - had so much fun with them all... just tears tonight.

Edited to add: Checked in with a couple other friends and have found them to be safe; still don't know who else we might know that might have been lost as they are not releasing names to the public yet.

I am finding it difficult to sleep now, can't turn off my brain. I had fallen asleep earlier on the couch only to be woken up by my cell phone. the fireman called to say goodnight and had I been watching the news at all? I know better than that after 13 years on the department, my anxiety can't handle it. he told me what happened, just heartbroken. tragic, awful, devastating. the hot shots work their tails off on these wild fires. I just really feel sick.

countrygirl, I am very sorry for the death of your friend's son.
