Arizona Chickens

I remember a few pages back in this thread the Mittleider Garden Method was brought up. Well the group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/MittleiderGardening/ is having a get together tomorrow night at 7PM in Gilbert if anyone is interested in going. Just sign up for the group and go to this event https://www.facebook.com/events/565053980207187/ and let them know if will be attending.
Thank you, I have a MG, however I can not attend. I have others obligations. :(

I have 4 beds 4'X30' with 2 beds w/T frames.

Gallo del Cielo, your New Hampshires look a LOT like the red sex links I got from Desert Marcy (mine are 16 weeks old now) and mine are all pullets. I vote pullets. I will put a photo of my girls in my album.

The red sexlinks you got from me had a New Hampshire sire, so the pullets look like a New Hampshire, and the cockerels will look like the mother, that's the way the sexlink breeding works.
There are other clues to look for to determine sex in these birds, not just color

I had a peach tree die all of a sudden and I wondered what it was. Then the orange tree right next to it did the same thing. Never saw any fungus or anything out of the ordinary.

I've come to the conclusion, which might be wrong, but I think it's where all the backwashed pool water would collect. Any recommendations for books on the different diseases and their signs/what to look for?

The Arizona Master Gardeners Manual/Handbook is available online. Lots of good local advice, I'm pretty sure there is a section on diseases.

I'm not saying that based only on color, I'm saying based on combs, wattles and length of tail. Do you think hers are cockerels? Now that I'm at home, I can put a photo of my girls directly in this thread.

Those photos were taken at least 2 weeks ago, so they would have been around 14 weeks.

Okay so Im here to ask a huge favor!!! So we were supposed to have a coop built and delivered for our school chickens. Well the people totally fell through at the last minute so we are now out of a coop. If anyone has any sort of structure that they dont need then we would greatly need it. We have absolutely no money so it makes building one quite a pain. Thanks guys!

Just about anything can be modified to work like a kids playhouse, large dog house, rabbit hutch, small shed... I don't happen to have any of those things, but maybe someone will. Good Luck! If I hear of anything I will let you know. Will also try to bump your post if it gets too far down in the pile.

we are still in the process of coop building, but as soon as we are done i would love to get some chicks :)

Cool! I remember when we were constructing our coop & run in anticipation of getting our chicks. What kind of chickens are your planning to get? Will you start with day-olds, or are you looking for older chickens? We started with 3 week old (because no day olds where available). It actually worked out better because the 3 week olds were already living in an outdoor coop because it was warm enough, so we didn't have to keep them inside under a brooder.

Welcome to BYC!
