Arizona Chickens

I forgot to mention, I saw a raccoon near my house. I would have sworn up and down that raccoons would only be found around the urban parks and lakes, and riparian areas like Tanque Verde or Sabino Canyon. Not the west side of Tucson, miles from any parks or lush riparian areas! My coop and run are dog proof, so also raccoon proof, but wow, a raccoon. I was so surprised, it took my mind a few seconds to reconcile what my eyes were seeing.
A friend lives on the northeast side of town. kind of out in the boonies, No lush areas, and no parks or riparian areas anywhere near. She had a raccoon break into her GARAGE (which is converted into chicken pens) a couple of years ago. He got in from the roof, in the area where their swamp cooler is attached.

I found out today not to take my 7 yr old with me to buy feed! They had week old bronze turkeys in the store. I barely got out of there without one. But not before an argument as to why we need a turkey and how much fun it would be! I come home and tell my husband who says he doesn't mind if we get one... Are turkeys much different to take care of then chickens? I was already working on a bigger run.

HONORING our STATES HEROS today in Prescott

God bless their souls & the United States of America..

Thank-you from Prescott and a friend of the fallen... emotional day here, but so proud of my hometown and its people. Tomorrow we start some of the personal funerals.

It's amazing how much comfort I get from just sitting outside with my chickens and silly ducks - if people only knew.

Anyone have any experience buying from hatcbawks good or bad....and how to get ahold of them?

Yes, I got my chickens from her. She was very nice, her chickens were all healthy, and she has a nice variety of breeds. I first tried contacting her thru the website but didn't get a reply, apparently she never got my message. I called her and got her on the first try. Picked up my birds the same day. She is located downtown Phoenix in an older housing area.

My chicks are now12 weeks old and have not had ant health issues. They are also really friendly and love my granddaughter, probably because she has small children who handle the chicks.

She will also let you exchange any chick that turns out to be a rooster. I have one cockerel out of eight chicks, but we want to keep him.
