So how do you teach fully grown chickens to drink from the cups? I have the regular hanging can waterer and I just had one of these installed, connected to a hose that is mostly underground so the water comes out refreshingly cool. But I cannot get the ladies to drink from it! What do I do?

I just bought these and taught my girls in 3 days.
First take all other water away. go out 3 - 4 times a day and press the bar to add water to cup. my girls heard me add the water and they ran over to drink. some had it the first day but the whole pen caught on by three days. I love love love it. so easy and clean!!!

This is my first year with game birds in the Phoenix area. I posted on another forum about our suddenly very big fly problem and am taking measures to reduce it. I lived in bliss from October, when I got the quail, until about 2 weeks ago, with no flies. Does it get too hot for the flies at some point and they will go away again? (Please tell me yes)

I live in Tucson but No the flies will just congregate to the shady and wet areas. They posted a few pages back about great fly control. Good Luck.

So I could not collect eggs yesterday because I fell down my stairs and hurt my back (I have spinal stenosis). My husband collected this am. This is our bounty for 2 days!!! They got some dirty so I guess I have to go wash eggs now.

I really like this simple fix. Where did you get the red piece. It looks like a nipple/cup combo.

I bought them off ebay, search "HORIZONTAL POULTRY - CHICKEN WATERING NIPPLES". The seller is a BYCer himself.

Ducklings but no ducks laying yet. Those are all from my Ameraucanas, wheatons, 1 RIR, 1 Ancona, 2 Crested and 4 silkie mixes. I have about 19 laying hens right now and about 20 chicks in various stages of growth.

My back still hurts but I am moving around today so will be back to normal soon.
