Arizona Chickens

Sorry to hear that Marcia. I have had non stop wind at my house for the past month or more and not just breezes. It has been super annoying trying to get my coop done and other outdoor poultry projects. I just gave in and now wear a face mask every time I'm working outside. I look a little funny but it made a big difference in my sinuses.

On another note I finally got the Turkey coop done and got your poults moved in. The poults are doing well and growing fast.

That's great! I finally broke down and bought another refrigerator. Getting too hot to just store eggs (for eating) in the garage and we never have enough room in the house frig. I was going to buy used, but too hard to transport one plus reading reviews, the new energy star rated units just don't last that long. And I wanted a refrigerator only model with a freezer since we don't need the freezer. I asked the delivery guy to leave the box. I need more brooder space and am going to make another brooder out of it. Laid on it's side, it will have more room than the brooder my Ameraucana chicks are currently in. They need more space but I'm not willing to put them outside yet. They are show quality chicks from Padilla's Peeps

It is warm enough in the garage, I don't think they will need a heat lamp. I spent the whole day rearranging and cleaning the garage, to make room for the new frig and for some much needed reorganizing. Seems my truck has been permanently kicked out of the garage between constant butchering/processing and now needing the space for a brooder

I may need to move some turkey poults into the garage, too.

For valley fever use... Might i add, it is only about $8 @ your local pharmacy. . 2 tablespoons 2x a day for??? Shoot 2-3 days. Let me check on that..
I would sure like to see some references showing that actually works. That is a mighty lot of sulfur to take.
I just asked my D.H. Where he got the info.. He can't remember the web site.. Neither can I.. He wheezed & coughed for over a year he was so.. So... Sick.. After about 5-7 days he was better.. That is i can tell you..He just had his test & his lungs are still showing it.. I will try to remember what web site & get back to ya all

Never take Flower of Sulphur internally. Aside from being a highly explosive compound, it is highly toxic to the body. If you look at the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) required to be available in corporate environments, you'll find the amount of side effects is huge and very problematic. Metabolic Acidosis is a very concerned one, since it can cause death fairly easily. See page five for the full list of side effects on humans. : Edited For MSDS Link.
Sounds dreadful... The web site is on the tip of my tounge.. Agh: :barnie Hilda Clark wrong spelling or home cure.com?? It has been so long ago

Just talked to her the other day.. Said she has not been on in a while.. I need something from her soon.. I do miss her funny stories..I don't think she un-subscribed??

I meant this thread was no longer on my list, not a person.

So, expecting 2 orders of chicks this week, 18 Jersey Giants from Cackle, and 8 Partridge Cochin from My Pet Chicken.
Brooder is ready, Jenny is playing mama to the chicks I got last week. Salesgirl told me they were Buff Orps, receipt said Golden sex-links. I believe they are sex links.

The training is going pretty good I guess. I found them together twice today. Just hangin'. The pup seems to have moved on from baby chicks, to the older Pullets as far as his attention goes.

I'm hoping a full grown Jersey Giant roo will chase the dog, not the other way around.

:p

What kind of dog? A little training goes along way. This is really my first time with a dog and chickens. I had a dog one time(now a drug dog in Casa Grande I think) that I was training and she had an acre to run around in the back. I had just bought some Pullets from the feed store and made them a coop out front. They had a 6 foot fence in between the two yards but wouldn't you know. I'm washing dishes and looking out the back window and one of the Pullets was being thrown through the air. The rest never went into the back again. Lol. This guys pretty smart and when the chickens are larger, I don't think he'll mess with them too much. Exposure will help when we have chicks again as well.
