Arizona Chickens

Anyone in the Prescott AZ area want a great free rooster? He's friendly and beautiful. Not sure what kind but he's got the feathered feet. The people who gave us chickens also gave him to us but he is too noisy for our neighbors so we want to find him a great home.

Remember I’d like to have access to the seed box on the weekend of August 2. I will be in Chandler for my first grandchild’s baby shower. I can either take it home and go through it, add my seeds, etc and bring it back when the baby is born (due Sept 9) or I can bring my seeds with me and  do it while I’m there. I will have some free time on Sunday the 3rd. Keep me posted on its whereabouts.

You should take it with you!  That would give you more time to look through it.

It does take a while to go threw it.. Whatever works for you... It will be fun to have you have you over for tea.. Make time to talk chicken when you pick it up.. :weee

Check out these birds.. Does anyone have one of these breeds?

Yes, I have 7 of the partridge cochins.

Are yours friendly? The one we had was a afraid of humans.. Now that we have a few that are so happy to see us, let us pick them up & what not. I find it more enjoyable to be with them..

We would like to add crested leg bar, skyline & croad langshan.. Anyone have these?? I think there might be one more we are interested in. However my phone battery is need a charge..

We were gone for a couple of days, and found her dead upon our return. She appears to have probably died yesterday, judging by insect infestation and smell. When we left, she was fine, although she hadn't laid an egg in a few days, which is not at all like her. They still had plenty of water and food when we got back, and the other 3 are doing fine, although a bit stressed for having to deal with their dead sister laying on the ground in the middle of their play yard! No indication as to cause of death - she showed no symptoms of being egg bound before we left and her belly felt normal when we picked her body up, no evidence of attack, so I don't know what to think, other than that sometimes they just die. So, now we are down to 3 again. Anyone have a couple of pullets available? We are in the far west valley (Phoenix area).

sorry to hear that but yes, some times they just keel over and die. Sometimes you can do a necropsy and find the cause but sometimes without a lab and sohpisticated technique you won't find any answers. If she was an older hen might have just been heat stress. I have lost a couple each summer that way; no obvious reason but it's really hot I just don't think all birds can handle it.

Any way @desertmarcy has some pullets for sale in several breeds right now, tho she is in Tucson.

Thanks. She was only about 16 months old, but yes, it has been really hot here. I have a mister that runs all afternoon every day, plus they have lots of shade, so I'm trying to not beat myself up over it. She was eating and drinking when we left, acting perfectly normal, no trouble walking. The only indicator that something might be wrong was that she didn't lay for the last few days. Like you said, sometimes it just happens.

Mine aren't lap chickens or anything. They are about 7 weeks old right now, introduced to a mixed age flock at the same time with 20 Jersey Giant chicks. They come running when I bring food, but won't let me handle them or anything.
