Arizona Chickens

I took this picture when grocery shopping, the egg color caught my eyes, they don't look real. My camera didn't capture the real color, they were like brick red, very bright. Anybody know what chicken lay this color?
Looks like Red Durocs - an old breed that you don't hardly see any more but they are prolific layers and their eggs are usually a really dark red like these.

Does everyone on the Arizona forum all live in the Tucson area? I think I've only noticed only one person that lives in the Prescott area but everyone else lives in southern Arizona. No offense to anyone and I'm not complaining but sounds like a SACC - Southern Arizona Chicken Click.

Think theres more people in the valley. The southerners just seem to have a little more free time.

We're over on the east side of I-17 about 35 minutes southwest of Camp Verde. :)

I used to live in Phoenix, but moved to Tucson in '94 for work (aircraft mech). Tucson is much more laid back than Phx, and I imagine Prescott is even more so. Used to kick around the Bradshaws a lot when I lived in Phx, but haven't been up that way in years.

As far as free time? Right now, I am bottling water, loading ammo for a rifle I haven't even bought yet, and polishing off a bottle of merlot. Life is good.

Hey! Whats going on in here? The flock is doing well. The family is well too. Brother in law is staying with us for a bit while he switches careers. He is a newly licensed realtor. Yay! If anyone wants an agent in Tucson, let me know.

CityFarm, I just brewed a batch of cherry begian ale this morning and I have a peach farmhouse style and a ginger rhubarb in fermenters. Just thought you'd want to know. :D

Agh, man, so envious!!!:goodpost:

We can't wait to say that!!

Globe-Miami; 90 miles east of Phoenix on highway 60

A lot cooler and where I live I don't have to deal with any predators of any kind except for people letting their dogs run free.  We are in the middle to up 80's up here with a cool breeze blowing all the time and no misters or cooling devices for my chickens.
No misters or cooking devices for ours either but it's def not very cool here.
