Arizona Chickens

I have a Roman Tuft goose. We all love "nibbles" her breed is a smaller breed. She is living quite happily with my ducks and free range egg layers. I have also thought about embdens but I gotta say I am in love with my tuft. she is so sweet and although protective she is not obnoxious. my boys can pick her up and hold her and carry her around which most geese hate.
ahh sooo pretty. makes me want more birds. haha

I might be interested if you can give me the info? but she has to be friendly and get along with other fowl

wow what a color!!!!! I might have to contact her for some EE. beautiful, and congrats!!!!
time to get rid of a rooster!! too many good ones to deal with the bad ones

is this a meat pen of chicks?
I have never seen a chicken chase a goat. poor goat. My goat would have butted the chicken away. I also wanted to know where I can get info on this chicken bill?
Here is the document for SB 1151 which cruised through the Senate and squashed in the House once the League of Cities came out against it, even though Senator Farnsworth requested their input multiple times, with no response. http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/51leg/2r/bills/sb1151p.pdf

Later in the same session Senator Farnsworth was able to amend an EMP bill to include allowing residents to grow food on their own property. This is our way of keeping the door open to allow AZ residents to raise chickens or at the least have a food garden in their backyards.

These bills that will be coming forward as they are worked on will have nothing to do with telling people how to raise their backyard animals or what can be grown, but will only ensure that these activities cannot be outlawed or regulated out of existence by cities or municipalities.

Here is the BYC thread for SB 1151. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/855539/arizona-senate-bill-1151

I'm heading to the Phoenix Valley and thought I'd stop at Trader Joes for some fertile eggs for my broody Black Aussie. Do these really work? Should I know anything - questions - dates - whatever before picking them up? thanks for your help.

Do a necropsy, it may tell you

Unfortunately, I have neither the knowledge nor the stomach to do one!  But it would be nice to know, just in case we're doing something wrong.  Many years ago, we had an adult male ostrich keel over for "no apparent reason" - we had a necropsy done, and he had a brain tumor!
I sure understand that. My curiosity is what enables me to do necropsy. My first one I was 14, I brought a dead chick to school and my teacher did the exploratory. He had the knowledge to know and used it as a teaching tool. My class mates thought I was terrible for bringing in the chick. But I wanted to know what went to wrong.

There is actually a whole thread about hatching TJ's fertile eggs. Lots of people have done it with mixed results. The most important thing is to get them as fresh as possible. The date is coded on them by day of the year. Jan 1 is 1 so today would be 239.

Send me a PM and I will give you my friend's information to purchase the goose.

I had heard that about heart attacks and strokes, too.  And, we did have thunder and lightening in the middle of the night.  But why did it have to happen to a young bird who was showing such egg-laying potential?  Even though I've only met a couple of you (maybe we should have a West Valley meet and greet one of these years), I really appreciate the outpouring of support from everyone on this site.

The hen I lost was just under a year old, also young. I still have 3 of her sisters, they still lay eggs about twice a week, not bad for 6 year old hens.
