IT IS... poisonous. ....I would use coffee grounds instead to take care of the ants that way you don't hurt your chickens.. I myself would never use anything with chemicals since I've gone to organic farming and raising of my chickens and fowl.

Just an FYI, most coffee is not organic at all. It is one of the most heavily pesticide ridden items we can buy. Most coffee is grown outside of the USA and is only slightly "regulated" against pesticide use and even child labor. I drink Death Wish coffee. It packs a punch and is 100% Organic and Fair Trade. It is priced higher than most coffee but you don't need to drink as much either.

Cyborg, I like that set, but it wouldn't work for me. First, my house is huge, but the AC unit is right smack dab in the middle of my back wall, practically under my master bedroom window. Yeah, I've already started stashing solar panels, but no battery system yet. I also have a greenhouse with an aquaponics system set up in it, with 2 300 gallon fish tanks. Capturing rainwater would be a definite plus, because I lose a LOT to evaporation. One thing I have going in the greenhouse right now are grape vines, and if I'd known they would grow so fast, I would have planted them along the outside of the run for shade. The new place is a clean slate!

I have sweet potato vines. They are growing really well here.

The new hobo chicken has me very confused. Now that the feathers are dry it looks more like a hen than a rooster but it has about 1/2" long spurs??? The barring and feather quality almost looks like it it a heritage bird and not production. But what is up with the spurs?

I have sweet potatoes in raised beds out in the yard. They are one of the few plants that do really well in our heat. Another that does well (if you give it some shade) is horseradish.

I have sweet potatoes that have been growing in my front yard flower bed for about 12 years now. And they've spread everywhere. I would [ThinkI] that they would be safe for chickens because I'll eat leaves steamed and they taste sweet and are yummer tasting than spinage to me!
...occasionally I will dig up some s sweet potatoes or I think they might be yams. Cuz they're lighter in color and I will eat some cooked on the stove or in my crock pot!

Yes..I Grow some Sweet potatoes. ...but I believe their a brighter orange in color As I have one that's a yam on one side of the yard and the other that's a sweet potato and there is a difference between their look mainly and their taste.

Much lighter in color I believe in the sweet potatoes are more orange.
