Just an FYI, most coffee is not organic at all. It is one of the most heavily pesticide ridden items we can buy. Most coffee is grown outside of the USA and is only slightly "regulated" against pesticide use and even child labor. I drink Death Wish coffee. It packs a punch and is 100% Organic and Fare Trade. It is priced higher than most coffee but you don't need to drink as much either.

he is correct when he mentions that using organic coffee grounds is the better way to go for organic gardening And detering ants.
Thanks for jumping in and adding that!:highfive:

I think they are actually yams.

No, they are sweet potatoes. Here is information from my Steele Plant Co sweet potato catalog: "The Department of Agriculture designates sweet potatoes as dry flesh and moist flesh according to the feel sensation in the mouth during the eating of cooked or baked sweet potatoes. These terms do not refer to the moisture content of the potato. Yam is a trade name that refers to the moist flesh type of sweet potato. This use helps keep people confused about sweet potatoes and yams."

Do sweet potatoes actually grow? Are they yams or sweet potatoes? I love them! Nom, nom, nom.

Here are some photos I took yesterday of my sweet potatoes: I will let them grow until frost kills the vines before digging the potatoes. Did you know sweet potatoes are not related to the Irish white potato? Sweet potatoes are members of the Morning Glory family.

Here are my Moringa trees. I had to move them out of my covered garden yesterday because they were hitting the top wire. Hopefully they are big enough now the packrats will not mess with them.

I was told not to use olive oil as it congeals but to use KY jelly. I told him to soak her in warm water and apply the KY to her vent. Also to give her calcium and always have layer feed available as well as crushed, baked eggshell and oyster shell. Hopefully, he won't have to resort to extracting the egg but told him how to do that as well. Sounded like she was passing the egg while I was on the phone with him so hopefully, she's on the road to recovery.

I am happy to report that my Americana hen is doing better she was up early this morning letting me know she was hungry. Thx for the help
Mike

question, then why do my one sweet potato on my west side of the yard that's from 12 years ago and then my other one thats from maybe 6 years ago are different in color the one from 6 years ago is more orange in it tastes sweeter and the other from 12 years ago is lighter colored more yellow in the flesh. Are they two different types of sweet potatoes? From what I've heard over the years at the Farmers Markets?? Thanks in advance! :idunno

They are different varieties of sweet potato. I grow Beauregard's, they are very dark orange, and very sweet and moist. I usually bake up a bunch and then just keep them in the fridge. Peel 'em and eat 'em cold, delicious and an outstanding source of potassium. Really good snack when its hot. I bought some sweet potatoes recently at wallyworld that were almost white inside, and not much flavor IMHO. that's OK, the plecostomus in my sump tank likes them.

Hey Cyborg, The chicken view area will be outside of the run. All the green shown in the pic is for garden beds --BB
OK, gotcha now. When you said it was screened in, I thought you meant the bench was inside the run. I have a canvas folding chair in my run, luckily, it hoses off easily.
Bobby, I love that you added a chicken television area!! :goodpost:

Oh, no way.. How cool.. Wher do you think he came from?

I have no idea where he came from. The weirdest thing is he just waltzed in and made himself at home. I didn't see him til I was doing a head count because he was nestled in with the rest of the hens and no one was chasing him or anything.

Are you planning on keeping him?
