Last spring we took down our old dilapidated sun roof that covered the back patio and built a new one, leaving us with a pile of vintage wrought iron. What originally started out as an idea of using the metal for a trellis to block off the view to our scrap piles of wood and wire turned into a trellis/potting shed (6' X 10') made completely from salvaged materials (which in turn reduced the size of the scrap piles we were trying to hide). We covered the structure with old concrete re-mesh that used to be part of the fence surrounding the garden. We planted tangerine crossvines on one side which have done ok and on two other corners we planted passion fruit vines, which have done spectacularly well. I grew these passionfruit vines from small cuttings I took in late spring and they are getting huge. The first fruits are now nearing completion and are the size of large kiwis! There are hundreds of flower buds ready to open over the next couple of days; the aroma is going to be intoxicating.

@a little chiken , I have a grapevine with your name on it if you still want it! Now would be a great time to get it in the ground for next year.

Just a reminder; Tomorrow is the last day for the poultry show at the Arizona State Fair. Go and see some nice birds!

I have some really good stuff to fix your soil if you want. has all my animal poo and hay and straw and wood chips all combined. makes great for any plants.!!! let me know when you come to tucson I will send you a couple bags home.Your soil must be amended all the time or with the right amount of nutrients.. I think that could be my problem? We on,y have 2 grapevines left out of 4. They have not taken off as I had hoped.![]()
I was hoping that the duck droppings would make stuff really grow.. My soil is in need of some major help..

Several breeds have buff varieties. Plymouth Rocks, Leghorns, Brahmas, Minorcas, Catalanas, Cornish, Cochins, and Wyandottes come to mind. I may have missed a few. It gets confusing when people just refer to a color without the breed reference, unless you happen to be on an Orpington forum. Then you can probably get away with "buff" and have them get it![]()

I can do something else. I was trying to think of something that goes far and is warm. I will think of something.sry you are so tired and thank you for posting the information.
Show entries must be postmarked by Nov. 12, 2014. Earlier is better. The jpg version of the entry form on the Tucson Poultry, Pigeon and Fancy Fowl Club facebook page printed just fine when I tried it. There may be a pdf version of the booklet up in a while but the jpg pages do print. The entry form is near the end of the 30 photos that currently make up the show booklet on the TPPFFC Facebook page. There is a general poultry form and a pigeon form. They are back to back in the booklet, but are separate photos in the online version.
We will have bowls available at the Friday pot luck. Yay!
There's a new hatchery up here. I think they call therselves Feathers & Tails or something like that. They had chicks for sale last spring and you could order the kind you wanted. They have a website. I'll try to find them again if anyone is interested. There is no official hatchery in Arizona as far as I know. I think there was someone who tried to start one up a few years back, maybe that was the AZ Hatchery? IDK

I do throw coffee and banana peels and crushed egg shells into my garden as well.
