My boyfriend hates Starbucks, too. He says it tastes burnt. Now if you want amazing coffee, go to Black Crown Coffee in Tucson, near Speedway and Alvernon. It's a dumpy little place, but they roast their own coffee beans and aficianados say it is the best.
I usually don't see soldier flies around here until the weather warms in the spring. Last year I saw them in December along with an abundance of butterflies, but last year I think the average December temperature was about 80 degrees so it was buggier than usual much earlier. I'm not counting on that this year.
I don't think I my new Wyandotte hens could fit their fluffy butts in any of those nooks!
Would anyone be interested in a this Wyandotte roo? I bought two pairs at the poultry show and really only need one roo. They are in the same pen and don't fight at all. George is quite submissive to Jack-Jack, the head honcho. They were both show birds and had been handled a lot. They were bred by the gentleman from New Mexico whose white call duck got Reserve for show (I think). I also got a pair of black Bantam Wyandottes who are adorable and very handleable. I'd be open to letting them go, too, as I'm not breeding for show. Someone else might get more rewards out them than I would. I don't have pics of them right now, but they are shiny, puffy, and round with black iridescent feathers. @AZChiknGoddess handled them and could tell you more about those little ones if you were interested.
Here is Georgie. He looks small because of the perspective of the camera, but he is quite huge! Not a hatchery bird! His tail feathers are growing in.
If you are really into breeding and showing I'd be happy to let you compare the two, Jack-Jack and Georgie Porgie, and take your pick. Hoping to get $20.
A few on here have told their story about deep litter, the mold can be toxic and deadly to your flock. Along with whoever is cleaning it at the time.. They mentioned how sick they got after.. If I were you I would do more research.
As I understand it, mold is a result of damp litter. Between the chicken scratching and my turning of the litter on a regular basis I hope to avoid that problem...unless we get a lot of rain. Then I'll probably have to start from scratch.
I got zero eggs from my chickens today! Not even the sex links.:/ At least the quail are taking up the slack, though their production is way down as about half of them are molting. Yes it would! Very colorful and if you had little girls they would love to have their chickens lay eggs in that.

I'm sticking with my original "guess" - pullet in the top photos and cockerel in the bottom photos. The top one bears a remarkable resemblance to my BR pullet, Sky. (She's my favorite!)
