I would call around and get prices for the organic chick feed and then make a decision from there. As you can see, we use a variety of organic feed but you have to find what works best for you and what fits your budget.

Medicated, means medicine.. You would need medicine only if your chicks are sick. There is separate medicine you add to their water, only when they need it. That bag will last you a very long time for just 4 chick's. The whole purpose of having chicken's for us is to have heathly chickens.. Medication in our opinion is not necessary.. What you feed your chicken's will come out into the egg's and meat.. No Thanks on medicated feed..

I order from the Tucson supplier for this...but I suspect that won't be much help to you. My chickens LOVE the feed though, and are looking very healthy and happy from consuming it.

I DO order from phx organic feed and have some chick starter crumbles from Modesto Mills.
Both are close to $30.00 for a 50# bag!

I can ask if the phx organix coop had any extra chick starter you could buy. ...BUT...its mashed up food....so you'd have to add water to it, , so it's not so powdery! (or give it as it is) Some of us ferment the feed over night etc which allows it to expand and the chickens poops become more solid!

Can't wait to see it.. Did you you have to take out any tree's?

Yes and No. Do you remember the two palo verde trees on the left, just before entering my main poultry house?  I zig-zagged the pen behind the first tree, only needed to cut it back. So that tree is outside the pen. The second tree, which was larger, is right in the pen. I cut it WAY back, so all the branches are under 6' so I could put the wire over the top. My hope is, it will recover and I will let it grow up through the wire. Even a lightly-leaved palo verde tree provides a lot of shade. The amount of sunlight now coming through and hitting the south side of the poultry house is greatly increased. I hope my drastic pruning will not kill the tree.

What breed of turkey's are you putting in there?

I have organic chick starter I can sell you. I am in Surprise though. There are a couple people on your side of town that come and pick up from me so you could probably work something out.

Big Sky is good quality feed, but usually have to mix it with water and I use a big yogurt container to do so.
