My local feral cat had kittens in my yard.

I guess there is always water, shelter and something or another to eat. I think some of the neighbors feed her even though they say she's not their cat. So there are at least three orange tabby kittens toddling around, eyes just opened, and so far smart enough to evade the dogs. I got the mom and two of the kittens trapped and mom goes in for the big snip in the morning. The kittens aren't big enough to alter yet. I'm hoping I can handle them enough that they stay friendly.

I too have a feral female Kitty who is 3 years old (at least 3 years with me and she was young when I started feeding her). She was supposed to get spayed beginning of April. Her spay was put off as the dr had too many and this was a freebie. Well she managed to go into heat again and someone just happened to drop off a male cat - we get lots of drop off cats and dogs near our home. Beautiful silver tabby cat - so I expect kittens mid to end of May. Three years we waited on the list for the spay and we almost made it! DANG, DANG, DANG!!

Make sure they have a shallow pan of water that is large enough for them to stand in to cool their feet. I also have mister system that cools down the chicken run and coop area but doesn't get the area soaking wet. On really hot days I spray the top and sides the coop (it is nylon shade and this cools them down. I usually loose one due to the extreme heat. Otherwise they do OK and continue to lay on a regular schedule. I have 1 leghorn (lost the other last summer, a Rhode Island Red, 2 Orpingtons, 2 Austrlorps, I have 3 leghorns, 2 Americanas and 3 Plymoth Rocks that are only 3 months old.

I have fertile eggs if your interested. I have a mixed flock and a splash silkie roo.
Thanks for the offer but I don't have incubator space now that my sister dropped off two dozen Trader Joe's fertile eggs! I need a bigger incubator. Isn't that how is starts?

In The Brinsea 24 I have what I hope are Ayam Cemani and Black Copper Marans then last but not least is the styrofoam bator which has Blue Copper Marans...... Waiting to go in are more of RI/Barred Rock Sex Links............... Ayam Cemani to replace the wrong eggs sent and Polish Tolbunts Frizzle/smooth............ And Lavender Marans I forgot I even ordered since I had to wait so long to get them. I think I am going to sign up as a poster child in the group LOL

The Cemani and Black Copper are on day 19 of lockdown and will start pipping any time now
I hope your Cemani eggs really are Cemanis now!

Please call Altered Tails! Their Trap Neuter Release program takes feral or "neighborhood" cats and neuters them so you can release them back into their home territory. It's only a $25 donation!! If you call the hotline for the TNR program a volunteer will get with you to schedule your cat's surgery appointment. The cat must be in a humane trap and if you don't have one they will provide one for you. I had my own trap and they got my cat in the very next day for her surgery. She is home now and awaiting liberation.

Today when I dropped off my feral kitty at the spay/neuter clinic I brought her two kittens that I was able to catch with her. They called me back and said a rescue that they sometimes work with wanted to take the kittens and the momma kitty too for adoption. I said yes to them taking the kittens but I wanted the momma cat at my place because since she has been in residence the roof rats and pack rats have been scarce and she leaves my quail alone. So after I got her home to recuperate my DD let her dog out and he surprised a tiny black kitten, luckily with a fence between them. My DD was able to save the kitten after putting the dog into the house, and after a careful search of the yard found two more! I'm sure they were out of their hiding place that mom cat had hidden them in in search of water and mom because their mom was gone for so long. I already left a message with the rescue, I'm sure they'll take them along with the two they already have.
