Arizona Chickens

So far so good dealing with the heat. I have a question for duck owners tho. I have 2 pair of ducks, and both males seem to prefer the little brown female. Plus the brown male goes after any chicken who crosses his path. Anyway, I noticed the brown female has some scratches near her eye causing the eye to get foamy. I put Vaseline hoping that could help, I can't use blukote so near to the eye. Any ideas? Is there something I can get for her at a feedstore that may help?
Thanks.

My "kit" includes a Chick Starter Pro- and Pre-biotic + vitamins, Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, VetRx, Verm-X for natural monthly de-worming, Neosporin, Desitin...yes, the diaper ointment..., and my Chicken Health Handbook.

Since my flock includes NN Turkens, the Desitin has come in very handy in treating some of the neck wounds the pullets received from the enamored (horny) cockerels. It does an amazing job of reducing inflammation from wounds and dramatically speeds healing. It works well on humans' wounds too.

Was someone here interested in alpacas if I had a few being surrendered to rescue? I can't remember if it was this group. I also received another call from someone needing to find a home for their 2 llamas. The rescue is at full capacity and I can't take in any more animals so these are organized rehomes, not adoptions. PM me if interested, alpacas are in the northern part of the state and the llamas are near Tucson.

So I noticed that most of my Dorkings are missing feathers on their backs, which is really weird as these guys are only about 7 weeks old. I finally found out why. While watching the flock I noticed that one of the two cockerels, Bam Bam, was pulling feathers out of each of the other chicks, pecking at their faces....just being mean. He's also the most flighty of the chicks....so I segregated him. Right now he's alone in the old brooder they used to be in, placed inside of an X-LG dog kennel to keep him from getting away. The little stinker doesn't even weigh 2 lbs so if I cull him now I doubt I'll get any real meat off of him, and I don't have any other pens in the cabin to keep him in so he can still be around other chickens. Ugh! Decisions, decisions....

You can always make soup out of him. Don't need a lot of meat for that :)
