Arizona Chickens

Hey guys i was hoping you guys can help me out with a question ive had learking in my brain...
so i have 20 hens and 2 roosters and 7 ducks all free range all day in my backyard its not acres but its a good size for a subdivision. Now if there getting fed organic feed and home bred mealworms and 90% of organic greens all the time can they be considered organic eggs there laying? Cause i dont know what kind of bugs there eatting on a daily bases in the yard except the ones i provide for them...
and is anything really 100% organic unless its being kept in a cage with no outside influences?
Plz help

Oh man I want her!! It was runners or Muscovy's for us. We went with Muscovy's for the soft quack.. Are runners loud?

Probably good you went that way if in the city...they can be incredibly loud. I've found most of the noise quiets down the older they get, once laying eggs and breeding regularly they are much more calm. And the neighbors get plenty of eggs to keep them happy.

Forgive me if I'm being presumptuous, but it sounds to me like you're asking from a business perspective. In this country, claiming "organic" status is no simple task. Anyone making claims that eggs or meat they sell is 100% organic must be able to prove it by meeting strict government guidelines and becoming certified. Here's a link that may help you figure out how to move forward with such an intent:

Given what you've stated above, can you sell your eggs to others and call them "organic". No, at least not legally, and if you're caught making that claim without proper certification they you can get into big and expensive trouble.

What I tell the folks I sell my extra eggs to is that I do everything I can to keep it as natural as possible. I tell them about the organic feed I give to them, my organic gardening methods leading to additional greens for them, and the amount of space they have to roam around in a yard free of pesticides, etc. I often include a statement that I am not "officially" organic as I don't have certification, but that my lifestyle is geared in that direction. They can connect the dots on their own. Then again, most of the people sell eggs to already know how fanatical I am about our food as well as how I keep my chickens, so they're sold without me having to explain anything.

They are so cute! What are their personalities like?

Hellen is pretty friendly, she loves to follow me around the garden while I'm weeding and watering hunting for bugs and sneaking okra leaves. The babies are still a little skittish, I'm hoping that like mom they will calm down with age. They are beginning to realize that I'm the lady with the treats!

I am so glad I found this thread! Anyone from the Gila Valley area? I have about 20 chickens and I have a duckling, and another coming out of it's shell right now, and i plan on getting into raising quail! I have to say that I am falling in love with my duck. Pretty darn cute! He/She is about 5 days old in this pic. Crossing my fingers that the other one makes it!

Do you order from here? http://www.phoenixorganicfeed.com/prices.html
We do fermented feed from them, %30 more nutritious plus it expands to almost double.. It is like flour, so that is why we do it like FF.
