Arizona Chickens

@desertrocks desertmarcy has what you are looking for.. i mention her because i have seen her birds and she breeds beautiful bird's. She is up in Marana, which is close to Tucson. There's always somebody going up there. A few of us have carpool together there for a day trip. I have another friend that breeds from Greenfire farms, that's where we got most of our flock last year. I only have a few left from her so depending on what you want you can always private message me and I can give you her information.

This has Fescue (sp?) grass, orchard grass, alfalfa, rye and a hybrid type of white clover.  I got it at CAL Ranch.  I don't know where to get any of the other types of seed around my area.  Guess I should let my fingers do some walking

Local feed store is where I found the seed. I asked about sprouting it for fodder and the guy on the phone assured me I would be able to but then I have heard a lot of thiings from feed stores so I guess we will invest the $15 for the seed and set up some trays. We have plenty of trays laying around to work with as we do tomatoes and such in the spring.
I will update after I get the seed and try to run a set of trays.

Can you both post up photo's of the bad & seed? This sounds great? Can you add the seed in the grass in the yard? A few of us on here when in on the Omega 3 forage blend seeds. I have to put that in the yard but put a wire mesh on top so that it can grow.

HI everyone, I just joined up today...
I was doing a search for how to help a sick chicken.
My best research says she has "waterbelly", and I am looking for someone who might be willing to assist me.

If there is anyone in Tempe, AZ who has drained their hen, and is willing to help me... please give me a shout out... I'm way to nervous to be able to do this to my hen Kohl...
I've had her isolated and she's had 3 baths over the last week ... she seems better to be in better spirits, just still bloated...

Any help would be appreciated..
thanks

Thanks city farm. We have been looking at her birds online and she is certainly at the top of our list.
At the moment, in fact tomorrow morning we are going to get the materials to build our the pen, adding a proper roosting area and nest boxes on the back side and an uncovered day run off of the side of the pen. It has been so hot that we decided not to give them the option of sun or shade as they were still just babies. Now as the heat begins to ease and the sun isn't so penetrating we will give them more area to roam, a little at a time.
This will give them a 4X8 roosting/nesting area, an 8X12 covered and an additional 10X10 day run for the time being.
Once everything is fenced and secured to our liking, they will have access to approx. 9000 sqft to roam during the day.

Not fodder, but our FF has a weird grayish film on top. I went and got organic crumble feed for a while. . I do the FF only enough for 3 day's. . It still shows up, so not sure if it is mold or a film. . I don't remember seeing the film in the winter. .

I don't even really ferment the feed during these hotter months, but merely soak it for 1-2 days. Anything beyond that and it actually seems to grow mold.

On a separate note, how is everybody doing with the rain storms here tonight?
We lost our electricity for an hour here in Mesa

Got hammered in NW Pima county, naturally it started while I was putting sidewalls on the chicken palace. I just planted a fresh crop of buckwheat yesterday, no irrigation necessary for today!
