Arizona Chickens

I wonder what the thinking was that you 'need a rooster'. Because you certainly don't need one for your hens to lay eggs. If I wasn't breeding chickens, I wouldn't bother keeping one.
Ha Ha the person NEEDED to give one away.

BTW I posted the feathersite link for those who are new to raising chickens. I bet the oldies already are aware of the site as a wonderful source of information and amusement

Too many at his house so giving them away ............. "oh, okay..." I don't keep a rooster - not because of neighbors or HOA or anything like that - just my preference.

Sooo.... I left a magazine on a lawn chair and my chickens dicided to shred it and eat some of it. Well actually most of it. Really weird because this is the first thim I have seen them do this. So far chickens are fine, but should I discard the next few days of eggs?

I doubt it would be an issue i would still eat them

It sure has been cold here in AZ the last few weeks. I'm running extra light, and getting around 9/10 lately.
But man is it cold. I've just about destroyed 2 cords of wood already, and might have to buy some more.

Is anyone in this group in the Reddit backyard chickens page? There is someone in Phoenix looking to rehome their whole flock b/c of a move:

I posted and suggested the AZ thread but who knows...when we moved from AZ to GA we moved our flock with us, but that takes a special kind of crazy.

Hello, I have both Welsummer and Black Copper Marans pullers, and for the last few days I have been getting some chocolate colored eggs with black spots all over them. I know that Marans have the dark colors, but the welsummers have the sports. Does anyone have any ideo on who has been laying?
