You can always buy plain egg cartons new. There are several online sources. Just google "egg cartons" and you should find them. They tend to run $40-45 for 125 boxes, with free shipping. Misprints may be slightly cheaper but they would typically have other names on them that you're not authorized to use.

Egg carton labeling is one of many reasons why I give eggs to friends, family and neighbors, rather than sell them. Selling gets too complicated.

And a lot of the feed stores sell them too.

One more "Nest Run" egg-selling question. The AZ Dept. of Ag states you cannot reuse cartons that bear any name, etc. that you're not authorized to use, meaning the original company that produced the eggs I'm assuming, and also of course can't list the stuff you can't indicate like size, grade, "local", etc. since they're terms used for USDA criteria. So can you reuse a carton if you blackout that info with a permanent marker? I'm thinking that would be ok. I'm still not thinking about selling any eggs at this point but I might somewhere down the road.

I would not reuse at all. If it says you can not, then you can't. If someone from the DoA drops in to check it out, all they see if you're reusing a carton, slaps you with a fine.

I thought it did not say you could not reuse cartons, only ones with names forbidden?
If it's across the board, how lovely of Arizona to contribute to landfills and not support recycling.

I thought you could sell up to 720 dozen eggs a year with no problems, so the whole conversation lost me ages ago.

Well you can, but you still have to abide by the rules of selling "Nest Run" eggs, and one of them is that you can't state a grade, "fresh", "local", or use a carton with another seller's name on it. That's why I was asking if that means you have to use a brand-new carton or if you can re-use a carton that had another seller's name on it if it's no longer readable. I think it's the latter but it doesn't say positively one way or the other. Maybe I'll give them a call and report back here so we all know for sure.

Why not have your customers bring their own egg cartons? Then you are not selling them.

For those interested, I contacted AZ Department of Agriculture via phone a few minutes ago and asked if it was okay to re-use other producer's egg cartons to sell Nest Run eggs provided you removed/obliterated/redacted the info on the carton that you're not allowed to display such as size, grade, "fresh", "local", etc., and the answer is yes, it is okay. If I do end up selling any Nest Run eggs I'll probably just use the clear plastic cartons and exchange the paper insert from the producer with my own paper insert - it would be a lot easier that way. But if you do want to use recycled cartons it's completely legal as long as you remove the verboten references.
