So, I went back to the BORG on Costco Dr. Cleaned 'em out yesterday, but by browsing the other nearby boxes, I scored 2 more bags of the .8 gph foggers!
The Home Despot on Oracle has them in stock too.

Quote: That was my next planned stop, but found what I needed at Costco store. I will pass that on though, my stepdaughter is setting up a mister system for her run tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up!![]()
Ya know I'm really glad Cyborg and you brought up the issue of a mist system because I don't know if I would've installed one without hearing others say how well they work. I'm extremely glad I installed one the other day. I can't believe the difference it makes out in the run. The gals seem to really like it and I think a side benefit is that it moistens the soil a little in the run and they get some relief from rolling around in that as well. When you combine the mister, pans of wading water, ice in coolers with Brite Tap nipples, and frozen water bottles in their founts I think they stand a good chance of making it through the worst heat spell. I know the next couple of days will be a real challenge but I feel a little better knowing I did everything I could. So anyway thanks for sharing what you knew. Just that one tip alone made being a forum member very much worth it.Putting in a mister system for them is a smart thing to do with this heat. We dug a trench, and ran PVC piping out to the coop from the house, and set it up with 2 faucet knobs at the coop to run both the mister, and to have a shorter hose for refilling water containers out there. I have been leaving my misters on all the time 24/7. I can shut them off when it gets cooler again.

It's been a chicken pen modification couple of days. Prepping for the coming heat wave. Yesterday I cut a new vent window in one side of the coop/run. Today I finished installing my chicken misting system using the 0.8 gph fogger nozzles and a 1/2" drip irrigation line. I may have gone overboard with the nozzles. I put them every 2-2.5' and it's getting pretty wet in there. I'll keep an eye on it and see how it does before I replace any nozzles with goof plugs.
I only plan on using this system during extreme heat episodes with low humidity, when the extra wetness isn't as much of an issue. Like tomorrow and Monday. I can see already this system won't work well in typical monsoon humidity. Fortunately we don't usually get extreme high temps when the humidity is high. I do like the drip line as misting system. It's sturdy, easy to customize, and parts are readily available. Except for those pesky nozzles.
Don't want to run this system all the time because I want the chickens to stay acclimated to the heat. I will probably kick it on for a few hours in the afternoon when the temps are 110 or higher, but otherwise won't rely on it.
Lowe's had a portable patio mist system that was 10-12' of mist line with 6 nozzles. It worked pretty well. I just wanted something I could leave in place and I wasn't sure how long that portable system would hold up. It cost about $18 and installed in 10 minutes. I recommend it if you need an emergency system.
