Quote: Oh gosh im making it sound like there is actually mold XD

sorry about that, she has the bacteria caused by the moldy sand/food in her lungs (now almost cleared up) .

As fo the putting her down consideration, that is seeming farther away every day.

She is now attempting to preen and peck at things again (Though not very gracefully xD She ended up preening my arm and palm thismorning ) and she is VERY energetic. though she still cannot stand on her own, she is doing much better supporting her own weight, and even "sitting up"

Outstanding news! Thanks for the update! I hope she continues to improve.

Quote: You and me both. I brought in her friend yesterday to see her, and her mood really improved. she would just sit and pout all day, mosly sleepign and not making any noise, and then I showed her to Winnie (her pal) and she seemed much happier and more active. She even woke me up with chirping this morning .

DesertChic thanks. I've seen an odd egg from Toodles (especially since she's been this extended molt/too much attention from the roo), but generally either in the coop on rare occasion or behind this pile of branches where she lays normally. Going to have to give in to her & put a next box of some sort there I think.. She's always been off...head doing a side to side wobble from day 1, but she's sweet & so long as she's doing well I'm happy with what she does. The latest soft/rubber eggs I mentioned one was by Toodles egg with a regular of hers...so I thought she might've had a "double" & working herself out or it belongs to Hops as on rare occasion (when she's not happy I moved her box too much) she's laid by Toodles. Marshmallow normally lays in the coop box that I still have to finish or on top of the coop. Seriously...silly girl flies up there, throws a temper tantrum (seems like her & my roo are arguing), & will lay. Last year it was there most days.

Course just now I go out to turn on the mister stand for them & I find a Marshmallow egg by their food.

is what I think the girls are telling me...they're messing with my head!

Banaynaychicken YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She'll get there. I'm glad she was happy & responded well to her friend. I really think they can bond to a certain chick. If they do & it's like buns then when separated they get really sad. Are you going to keep Winnie with her or bring her in for more visits?

Too funny!

It's been so hot here that several of my afternoon layers have been forgoing the nesting boxes and just laying in the yard. It's like having a daily egg hunt to locate all those little buggers.

DesertChic...know what you mean. My Dad's chickens have never really laid in their box. He's missed a new spot for several days before then finds several dozen. In the past my Dane would go out to their yard & go on an egg hunt, turning to us then pointing out where they are until we gathered them.

The heat is definitely playing games...I got some eggs from my Dad a week or so ago & couple were already soft-boiled. I don't know if they were laid during a high heat/full sun or if he failed to get them for a bit too long. Weird thing is I float tested & they were fine....which I know isn't 100%, but I figure better than nothing.

I will probably just bring her in for more visits, I don't want her to catch the same thing from dory, if it is contagious. Though I have brought her in 2 more times today, and it was met with happy chirups and cute baby noises <3

That's great! Yeah, better safe. It'll probably help when putting Dory back with the others too by bringing her visitors. What about taking her outside for a visit? Keeping hold or in a crate or something of course.
