Arizona Chickens

Yeah, I have a few opera singers in my groups too. And unfortunately I have one rooster that insists on "singing" at the top of his lungs whenever his favorite girls lay an egg, and he does NOT have a good singing voice. I've run outside with a rifle in my hands more times than I can count thinking that some kind of predator was threatening my flocks only to find Zazzle (his name) strutting around like a peacock, singing the praises of his girls. He's a gorgeous bird and meets many of my breeding standards so I'm keeping him for now, but his "song" is really getting under my skin.

This is Zazzle:
He is gorgeous. I know what you mean about the boys going too far with their singing. Swear Silver is the yard herald....has to announce everything I do when I'm out there. Never fails that all boys will go off at the same time when I'm on the phone too. Luckily, it doesn't bother me for the most part, but there are the moments.

Not sure if I'd consider Marshmallow an opera singer...more like the ****** of queen bee. She gets going about something & there are times it doesn't stop for over 10minutes. I do know there are the "jealous" fits when I hear her & Fancy Pants (roo, was supposed to be a she) arguing back & forth. I know it's really bad when she's on top of the coop sounding off. For a little thing she has big lungs. lol

I think it's part of the fun really. Just not before sunrise. I think someone nearby goes to work very early & starts the neighborhood chain reaction. Anyone else notice that? I've noticed a light from cars passing behind the house then hear the boys.

thanks ^^ spome would say im a natuural.

not so.

its just lines and color XD

though I do admit I love painting chickens ^^
Look at the products sold in various decor shops. Rooster kitchen stuff, chicken kitchen stuff. Posters with them on it, etc. Betting you could develop your own line of chicken decor & sell items along with your rock markers you said about before.

Welcome! You are on the AZ site! Yay! You've reached a very knowledgeable group of people - they have from ducks to quail with chickens in between. Some are breeding to show as well as improve the breed. They live from way up north to way down south. I'm in the middle in Eloy which is outside Casa Grande. We are not in the city proper and really live in the county. Enjoy your new hobby - its a nice time to begin - the weather is great. Again Welcome!
