Arizona Chickens

Last night my husband decided to build a bigger brooder since our chicks are going on three weeks (ish). He made it out of PVC and chicken mesh. After he assembled it he thought of something: how would it fit through any of the doors :gigluckily, he was able to cut the posts in half and use couplers so he could squeeze it into where it needed to be. But it’s much roomier and taller so they can’t roost on the edges.

Looks like I need to go and buy more pine shavings

Hey ... I know I read that someone got chicks from TSC for a quarter..... Which TSC was it? thanks... I'm curious because I called the one near me and asked if and when they mark them down. I was told, they only mark them down for "farmers" that buy their whole stock of chicks, when they are getting a new shipment...

It was the the one in Lake Havasu City. Almost all were pullets. They had a few bantams and ducks. Lots of Rhode island reds. Every bin has lots of chicks in it.

He did a nice job!

It was the one in Kingman. I have seen them in the Lake Havasu also. They have always been straight run when I've seen them.
We get Marans at ours in Safford but they always seem to only get the Cuckoo ones... They get lots of Wyandottes in all different colors, including solid black. The one down in Benson has gotten Partridge Rocks, Welsummers, and the new Blue Australorps. They get all the cool birds... :(

I got 4 blue Aulstrolphs at the lake Havasu TSC. That's how I met BlueBaby. Trying to figure out what they were. Of course all four were roosters. One was a splash even.

I guess in kingman they get turkeys and Guinea hens. That's what the workers at Havasu said at least.

$$3-4 a chick is a big savings over the $20 my local breeder wants... but
Buggers.... Kingman and Lake Havasu are a bit far to go for chicks...
I'll probably just get them locally... Thanks for the info!
