Yes, sometimes some breed's can be trickster's. Can you post a more clearer picture, and get the side view of the whole chick in question??

I’ll definitely bust out the real camera in the morning for some good photos. They’ll all be moving into their coop and run by the end of this next week

Thicker legs and toes- roo
How does the chick act towards the others more outgoing? Could be roo

With my 19 marshmallow stood out at a few days old by the way he acted I was unsure about some others bc their comb was bigger and pinker than some others but I soon learned that they are pullets they just grow at different rates so soon their head caught up and their comb no longer looked so big or pink in comparison

So basically there is still hope

Got a serious pecking/feather picking problem. The victim is on the left, getting saddle feathers all picked clean. Coincidentally, the culprit is also in the photo.

Suggestions?

@Salty Skroob I use No Peck/Blue Kote. It's a dark blue liquid (also comes in a spray I believe) that you apply right to the skin and it's supposed to have a bad taste, so the offender stops picking feathers. It's also supposed to be like a healing ointment for the skin. It is not perfect- some chickens seem to actually like the taste, so it doesn't deter them. It will also stain your clothes and skin so make sure you get it on the chicken, not on yourself!

That bird eating feathers may also be needing more protein, a higher percent feed of protein, Mealworms and plain Greek yogurt may help...

Now my barnevelder has gone full broody and she's not nearly as nice as by BO, who would at least let me pick her up to move her. Biddy barnevelder is ready for war! When I reach for her, she goes on the attack...and I went to put her in chicken jail she flew out and I had to chase her down in the garden. I hope I can break her baby fever soon. She is NOT happy with me right now. It's wild how much broodiness can change their little personalities, as Biddy is typically incredibly docile, bottom of the pecking order, and a very sweet girl.

I finally got some photos with the good camera. Today is cleanout day, so I took the photos before so they wouldn’t be angry with me for putting them in a large box while I work The black chick is my Ameraucana (though, it’s supposed to be a blue ), but the others are my four Australorps from @BlueBaby. Only two have and real comb and wattle progress, but one is much more yellow than the other

haha i was just going to say dress is optional

btw i think most buff orps are sweet even when broody compared to other breeds, i have never had one peck at me even when broody or in the nest
