Arizona Chickens

Ant problem here too. I got bit on my toe in the laundry room talk about itch yesterday while I was driving of course. I was sitting out with the chickens and there was a trail of them on the patio. I spread DE around and it seemed to help.

Very dark with sprinkles here right now.

Hubby just came home with all kind's of stuff for me a bit ago for me to combat the ant's in the yard. He said that it should be enough to able to cover all summer for me now. :D

Look's like there's more dark clouds off in the distance. Today we had only a very few sprinkles so far.

Sounds delish.

I thought so too. At least it has more than just a few sliced onions and peppers in the ingredients, so it should be pretty flavorful. My next door neighbor moved here from Texas and said that the chicken fajita's are popular over there, so I started looking for a good sounding Texas recipe for them.

So question... what do you all feed your flocks?

Mine are either very picky or I’m not getting the right stuff. They waist more than they eat.
What are you feeding them? It's normal for them to scratch food out of their bowl, sometimes they will pick at it on the ground, sometimes they ignore it. I've found higher sides on the feed bowl help a bit. Mine get layer crumbles, they like it better then pellets. In addition they get bugs they can scratch up, any vegetation that is within their reach. Fruits and vege's I obtain for them, and extra bread I have around.

Using bowls to feed them out of always ends up messy. Bowls are unnatural for a bird, as they normally scratch and peck at what's on the ground. You might get a small feeder that you can hang up high enough so that they won't be able to get their feet into it.

So do you mean feed? Some chickens have different preferences I find my bowls for "horses" works well and then I wet the feed and leave some bowls dry usually the wet feed is gone first that also helps so that it doesn't spill out. You might try putting enough water in so that it's not just wet poofy crumbles but a tad watery like cooked cream of wheat mine LOVE that

As far as treats faves is grapes, cucumber, raisins (use sparingly), scratch in wintertime, Mealworms, corn and corn flakes is a new one

What kind of stuff?

20 pound bag of Spectracide for lawns that's supposed to kill over 100+ insects, 7 pound bag of Spectracide Fire Ant Shield Mound Destroyer, and 2 more of my 2 pound canisters of the Prozap Garden and Poultry Dust. I'm on 3 1/2 acres here, so I have a lot of ground to cover. :gig
