Arizona Chickens

Dumor was very dusty. I am using nature wise now. They all seem to like it.

I agree with it being dusty. I bought a bag of it to try about a year ago, and I never bought another one! They ate the pieces of it, but the dust from that feed stayed on the ground. There was still the powdered dust from it at the bottom of the feed barrel. I didn't want to waste that so I added water to it in a bowl and then added some of the pellet feed from my new bag.

@meetthebubus Good luck keeping the prairie dogs out of your feed! I have buckets with elbows where they put their head in and eat all they want - kept the ground squirrels out for about 10 seconds!! BUT I don't lose as much as I used to. One time I took the lid off the bucket and there was a squirrel sitting on top of the feed trying to figure out how he got there! Mine like the probiotic/vitamin water combo better than the Duvet vitamin stuff. They drink it well. Happy about Fuzzy - sorry about China. Its not fun being a surgeon. I pretty much stick with Purina brand and I prefer crumbles. That way I can keep a bag of pellets on hand and they think its a treat!

Thanks! The troughs im hoping will work bc the prairie dogs steal so much and I'm a bit annoyed at the chickens bc if they gave them a good peck they would come around but noooo they'll j7st peck each other away!:barnie

Natural is always best.

Have you heard about that cancer causing stuff from roundup being found in the breakfast cereals that they were talking about on the news? I'm sort of glad that I stopped eating that years ago!

Oh yes! Gyphosate. I've been studying nutrition and our commercialized food system for over two decades now. Believe me...I could put you to sleep with this obsession. When I worked as a Power System Controller I received the GAO reports that went straight to Congress....and was the only one in the department who actually read them cover to cover (usually when I was working graveyard shifts). You'd be horrified by the number of issues with our food system in this country that NEVER get reported to the public. That's what actually propelled me forward into raising my own food.

Here's a fun fact: A huge number of kids suffering from ADHD can be cured without any medication at all by making certain dietary changes. It's amazing.

That's why I keep telling people that unless you grow it or make it yourself, you don't know what's in it!

Ok I don't know where where I've been these past 10 years :lau

I'm just now discovering number one song hits from like 9 yrs ago hearing them for the first time and loving them, oh well at least they are better than any new songs I've heard lately... oh and new songs from the 80s of course i know where i was back then lol and I wouldn't be listening to music haha

I'd believe just about anything you told me about the food system. I haven't read the reports but it's obvious there's a LOT wrong with it.

25 years ago I was babysitting a few kids and they had ADD. One kid was controlled with meds, the other by diet. The kid who didn't take meds was better behaved, had more self control and performed better in social situations.

I'm trying hard to catch up... Will attempt to post Aloha and NN babie pictures later today. I'm still having trouble getting my phone to talk to the computer so I can post. How do I tell google, I want control of my images...l

Hope this isn't too sad a topic... How often do you all think about your past chickens/ pets?
Is it just me? .....
No it's not just you...
I still tear up thinking about the lovies I've lost...
Kohl, Lumpy, the Twin, I-lean, Roberto
and don't get me started talking about Sybil(cat)and Rosco(dog,)

I got lazy this week and decided to just throw the chicken poop out into the desert as I scoop it.
If there is a offerup.com or craigslist in your neighborhood, you could try posting "low cost chickenpoop for plant mulch" just require that they do all the heavy lifting...

I want to compost but no where to do it where I live.
if you have room for chickens... you can do a small compost pile in a corner, or in Tempe, the city will give you a recycle can with hole cut in it to mulch in.

Our whole food system is broken, many allergies are not to the food, but the poison the food is grown with..

I entered Emma so far.
good luck , I voted

And I know those sweet teeny chickies will win him over once they get here.
ABSOLUTELY

We should all try to get together sometime. I would love to meet all of you.
Would be fun...

What do you fellow Arizonans use for your coop floor?
I just use dirt, they like to scratch in it, and take dust baths, I wanted to try sand, but it's $22 for the sand and $70 for delivery.... It just won't fit in my lil car

What is PDZ???
