I didn't know they were your dogs. I still do not suggest shooting them.
I have 3 and they all like/get along with my chickens and cats. I had a neighbors' dog that got loose and attacked one of my hens a couple years ago. That is why I thought it was neighbors dogs.
My hen lived 2 more years but was blind. Died at 11 years of age. It was a total extra job to maintain and feed separately. I just could not cull her since she recovered but was just blind. Healthy otherwise.
I have read multiple posts about how peeps trained their dogs to stay away from chickens. They used a shock collar for the training. IT WORKED.

I’ve had chickens for almost 2 yrs. These dogs have never touched them. They know when I have new ones hatch and can’t wait to snuggle and lick them. I put 2 of the dogs out with them to protect them. Never touched a feather on them. I’m just so upset The poor little peeps.

Put a can of apple pie mix a box of spice cake mix and a stick of butter in your crook pot and cook on high for 2 to 3 hrs. Make an apple crisp desert. I make it for work all the time. You can use other flavors of pie filling if you want. I’ve done cherry and it was good.

I have 2 instapots. 2nd one I'm giving away to family this year (still unused)

The pot is great I have a keto instapot cookbook, you get crockpot style pot roast in about a hour, so save about 6 hours of cooking time. Steaming eggs in 5 minutes (hardboiled) steam fresh broccoli in 1 minute just takes a few minutes to pressure up, and then pressure down once done.

It also has a crockpot setting if you wanted something to cook all day, etc.

I think that I will have to get one of those then if it will cut the cooking time down like that!

Unfortunately, once dogs develop a taste for the birds it usually never goes away. I've known several people who've either had to get rid of their dogs, or stop raising chickens after that first attack because the dogs wouldn't stop.

I had my dog for six years before chickens, she isn't good near them so she resides on the opposite side of my home.
When you have more room you could always keep them separate I do and it works sorry for your loss @Michelle Guynn

@City farm - I had to go back to look!! I'm so discombubilated these days! Just say which day you and Sill will be going and I'll meet up with you. Either is okay with me. Remember by 7pm it is REALLY dark.

I agree with what you said. Once a dog get's the taste of fresh chicken, it will only want more!

Try the training before you decide to give up on the dog. I have read posts here (BYC) where peeps have had SUCCESS with their dogs.
