I had a miracle today!
I had a broody sitting on 13 eggs for 3 weeks. Yesterday was the end of week 4 with no luck. It was sad, but I took the eggs away from the mama and put her in a wire bottomed cage yesterday to try to break her.
This morning, I heard chirping coming from the eggs that I took away from her yesterday!!!!!
Turns out one of the turken eggs was chirping. With a little help (I know you only help in serious circumstances, but I consider a week late pretty serious) we now have a little turken chicky that is about 5 hours old. Still napping and moist, but I think on the way to being a regular little fuzzy butt. So, immediatly, I went out to the feed store to get it some buddies. So, I added 5 little guys about a week old to the brooder, separate from the new little hatchling just about an hour ago. It is very exciting. My first hatch!!!

I ordered pullets only so roos will be few and far between. I will keep ya posted though.

We spent the day building new brooders because of the over shipment of chicks...wait I don't think I told anyone that...yeah they sent me 104 extras that ended up being a clerical error in my favor. Anywhoooooo, new brooders built and everyone has tons of room again. whew.
