THE CHICKENS HAVE ARRIVED! I am so happy! It was so hard, but we got all 10 in the big canvas dog carrier and successfully moved them into their new home! I will post photos later today. I missed them so much.

Thank you everyone we put some scratch in there for them to dig around for and they also got a banana. They are feeling right at home. I am going to go out there at sundown and make sure they get to the roost okay. Especially Reese with her peeper blinders.

I have some silkie hatching eggs. 2 dollars each or 20 for a dozen. They will be black, white, or paint.

You were not kidding when you stated earlier that DH built them a mansion.

Yeah he really took a liking to them since he’s been taking over more of their responsibilities. He wants to get more I’m not ready for that quite yet though. Ten is plenty for now!

They roosted on their own last night, no problem. And several are already laying in the nest box this morning! I’m proud of my girls I bet our old neighbors on the mountain will really miss getting their fresh eggs.

Now that it's spring and the daylight hours are longer and the hen's are laying very well, I'm looking into learning how to preserve some of these egg's for when they start slowing down later for the molting. I downloaded a guide for that from another site, and I plan to use it this year (at least for the egg's that I have to use to mix Buster's allergy med in).
