Arizona Chickens

Hi all,

I just bought a ton of feed and probably won't get through it all fast enough so I'm trading some to my son and he'll be supplying me with eggs until I start getting my own. No store bought eggs for us :clap

I've been getting second opinions on chick sex and so far I'm pleased with the color split if the guesses are right.

Tomatoes are ripening in the garden and we're BBQing some quail for dinner tonight. Yummy!

Enjoy the weekend everyone :frow

I just posted my first photo. I will get the hang of this yet. this is a photo of my first hatchlings they are just under three months old. One of the roos is trying to crow already. I am trying to figure out which one.
Pretty Babies.... Have fun with them!!!

My red star, Stunts, is ill :(....
The others seem fine. Stunts is one of my favorites and had always been so sweet, I hope she pulls through.
Something seems to be going around.... I've lost two now, Hope she gets better for you!

At least you will still be able to get some fresh egg's. Trades are always a good thing! :D

I agree with you on that.

@starri33 If you breed a human aggressive rooster to your hen's and then hatch from that, it is very highly likely that the future son's of that rooster will also be human aggressive.
A friend suggested using a squirt bottle on him, so far so good, I've not had to squirt him or drop kick him since he did it, he sees me coming and either runs or makes sure he stays out of foot range.

I think I have a broody. :wee:celebrate, one of my little girls is sitting in a nest, hissing and puffed up and making strange noises, she's been on the nest for 2 hours now. have never seen her do this and I've seen her in the nestbox before.. I'll check again tonight, if she's still there, I'll mark the eggs and leave her be till I get back on the 3rd, she'll be moved to a nest box where she can't be disturbed and when the chicks hatch they won't break their necks getting out of the box. Would be cool to have one.. :)

This is my girl who's making the weird noises and hissing at the others.

So these are the four chicks that were hatched out and raised starting April 19 by the "sister wives", my Aloha and my blue wheaten. All about 4.5-5 weeks old. Will you look at that size difference!!!!!! That big blue one is growing like a weed!!! I'm just blown away... Then the other blue at the total other end of the spectrum as a teeny little runt! I just don't know what to think... Jersey Giant genetics at play, obviously?
Geez! Gonna be interesting to see how they mature for sure....

Definitely sounds like she’s gone broody to me!
