Arizona Chickens

I am going to paint the different store fronts different colors and change the main door on the stable. There is another walk in door on the town hall but you can't really see it cause its on the side.

Hello!

I am new here and live in Rio Rico. I am married and have 2 daughters. We have just gotten back into chickens and turkeys and are having a great time. We have buff orpingtons, easter eggers, a couple of barred rocks and silkies. I just hatched 7 silkie chicks and they are adorable! They are 1 week old.

Is anyone here going on the coop tour in Tucson on Saturday?

Anyway, I'm happy to be here!

I love it! Very original - I've never seen a coop like that before and it adds character to the yard.

Hello ArizonaDesertChicks, your coop is one of the coolest I have seen. What a great creation. Keep up the great work!

Hey All,

Just about ready to jump into raising BYC (1st generation!!!)! I'm looking at getting some Rhode Islands Reds and Delawares. I'd be curious to know your opinions of how these two breeds do in Arizona. I live in Gilbert and would also like to request information on where the best feed/supply stores are in my area. Any other insights, thoughts, heads-ups, etc will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!!!

Edit: The Rhode Islands do well here. I don't know about delawares but I have not run across very many breeds that don't do okay here. As a matter of fact I can't name even one off the top of my head but then again I have not owned or raised everything either.

I dont know of any feedstores down Gilbert way. Hopefully someone else does.
I only know of the one on Broadway and Mesa Drive area. Mesa Feed Barn.

RIR do fine here. Ive never had Delawares but Im sure they would do fine as well.
