Arizona Chickens

We've got enough trouble with "city" people, everyone is bailing out of CA because of the politics over there. I have no issue with them bailing, just them bailing from what they don't like and then trying to turn AZ in to what they just left.
I think people are bailing on multimillion dollar homes in flood and fire prone areas.

I put my midnight majesty pullets outside in the new brooder I made. It's in a 10x5 ft portion of the new 10x15 ft run. Completely separated from the big girls. This morning one of the baby girls got out of the brooder portion and into the babies' run, chirped and found her way back to the clutch. I have two cockerels and a very small/slow baby who seems to be a girl. They should all be 4 weeks old around today, I got them from Cal-Ranch 11/3 and at the time were supposed to be 2 weeks old.

Just looked them up (adults), they are so pretty. Do yours look like they have feathered feet? I like their dark eggs.. i wish there was a bit of color variety from mine.

When I bought them, I asked for solid black heads (oops x 2), and clean legs. I do have a few or so with feathered feet though. I'm also looking forward to the dark eggs, or any eggs! My andalusians seem to be taking the winter off. Some of the babies from their hatch, are still laying! So I've been winterizing their roost/coop in case it's not jsut the stress from the move and the moult.

I cannot get over the weather! Waking up to a cold house and sunset being around 6 or 7 is crazy! I’ve gotten so used to the extreme heat we’ve been having so the change is nice :)
What does everyone feed their feathered kids? mine had been getting layer feed, 16% protein, I changed them over to all flock to help with the feathers, how bad does this affect your egg production if you use this? I know winter causes problems with the decrease in sunlight, I won't use artificial lighting, I'd rather buy eggs than force the issue. But my egg production has really gone down, just collected 8 eggs from yesterday, an I think I've got close to 45 +/- hens.
I feed mine the 16% with oyster shell included from TSC. That sure is a large decrease though, how long ago did you switch them to all flock?

Sort of, I guess. I sat on my bucket outside of the pen, and she kept complaining before she layed the egg. She would walk over in the pen near I was at, just complaining away. Then I left and came in the house. When I went back out there, she had her egg layed.

Yup. She's spoiled. :)

@CaroleW Are you going to help me greet some of the newbies here today? ;)

I'm bringing you some more work. ;) A new person at work and I spent quite a bit of time talking today. She is getting a building ready for chickens and wants to get a large flock. I invited her to join us, telling her the people on this board are fantastic with advice for newbies.

Hi everyone, I have a chicken that was attacked by a dog about 3 weeks ago she is doing much better, feathers are coming back, but she has a hole in her neck area and when she eats or drinks the food/ water begins coming out. I think she is likely starving. Is the best thing to dispatch her? Or should I try to to super glue the wound shut or something? :( any ideas or opinions would be appreciated thank you.

The more, the merrier!

Have you asked in the Emergency section here yet? Maybe someone else has experienced what you are dealing with. Good luck!
