Arizona Chickens

@wolfwalker you did the right thing with the hawk to give it a chance to rehab. I'd like to know if you hear from the rehaber on the outcome.

You are right about Game and Fish, they are not where they need to be - they are probably spread too thin to cover any but the most dire animal emergencies that are a risk to humans.

The Prescott zoo/sanctuary told my neighbor the hawk she turned over to them recently would be released in the same area here. But my assumption is probably not if it only has one eye and can't hunt. I'm not sure if we will hear the outcome.

Not to mention that there's a fire going on over up by Kingman and the wind is blowing. There's probably hurt animals there.

They have good insticts to avoid fires.. they actually do worse off when people try to help them in the midst of the fires. They have a better sense of where safety is.

Hunger for sure, but for it to be weak with hunger is another thing. I would suspect a problem. There's a red tailed hawk around here, and it is not weak by any means. This would worry me. Did you have a rabbit die-off in your area, too?
We did, I estimate, just from my unscientific observations, that we lost 70 % of our rabbits last year. Though I have a young batch that was born under my solar Conex a few weeks ago

I don't know about anywhere else, but now that most of the rabbits have died off, the prairie dogs seem to be all over.

They seem to be gone 100% here :( i used to see plenty of hawks (and complain about them as well).. but i saw my first one in a very long time yesterday.. haven't seen much of any wildlife for that matter.. except migrating birds. Even bees seem to be limited this year.

😭 us and the hawks... just got school notification that we have to quarantine for 10 days.. positive case in my daughter's class.. ugh. At least we have our new chicks to keep us company (and our big chicks)!

Didn't it used to be that they wanted people to quarantine for 14 day's? So now it's not as long? I really am starting to wonder if it's even worth going to school. Aren't there still people doing the home schooling?
