Arizona Chickens

Well, I gave everybody some cold sliced cucumber. The Leghorns and the two older Dorkings went right for it. The two young Dorkings took one look and ran to the other side of their pen. I waited about 5 minutes and checked. They are still eyeing that suspicious vegetable and won't go near it. *sigh* This is the first time I've offered them anything to eat other than chick feed. Silly chicks.

Drat, we got a few BA for our broody hen earlier this summer. I had heard so many good things about them so I decided to grab the last few.

It was her White Leghorn's that had the heat problem's the most. The BA's went broody and hatched chick's out there when it was 118-F. The BA mother hen's raised the chick's. It was dog's that broke into their yard that took out the whole flock over there.

@springvalley123

Any news on the fire? Hoping you're safe!
It is spreading north and west. I drove to the entrance of the base camp and I still see a full lot of tents and vehicles of all types. No mention of spring valley being on ready status or anything. I think the fire is 10 miles away. I can see the base camp whenever I drive out of the community so if I see them bugging out I'll know. Plus when I look south out of my back yard. Thanks for asking!

They have asked me to do an interview 2 or 3 time's already, but I don't want to do one.
Yeah, I get it. You have made great contributions on here. Do you remember @desertmarcy ? I wonder if she is still around? She was famous for turkeys. If I remember correctly, she was in Marana

Yes, I remember her, but I don't think that she ever comes to BYC anymore, unless she's now under another name? Same with Desertchic, that was our first to have the Naked Neck's in AZ. as far as I know.

Do you have a plan in place in case you have to evacuate?
