They are SO cute. I am so happy that you have them near you so you can at the least enjoy having chickens around you

How did you know it was out, do you have a monitor on them? Then last night, just before bed, my no-light heat lamp gave out on the brooder. Thankfully I had an extra bulb in the shed. So at 10 pm last night, I was walking out back in my pj's to retrieve the bulb.![]()
It's on a thermostat. How did you know it was out, do you have a monitor on them?
Firecrackers.Seeing a hawk perch 15' from the run made me want to try something.
That's a really awesome idea to have them on a thermostat that you can check like that !It's on a thermostat.
I had the lamp, bulbs, and the thermostat from when I had a hedgehog.
It really does work well. I'm glad I already had that. It shows my set temp and then shows the actual temp, cycles on and off as needed. And with no light, doesn't disrupt their sleep cycle. That's a really awesome idea to have them on a thermostat that you can check like that !
That is so interesting. I never knew you could have a heat lamp that doesn't do light! I hate doing that to my chicks. Where I had the light for the first batch and it just kept them in constant light all the time like at Cal Ranch. I thought it was so rude to make them sleep with the lights on!It really does work well. I'm glad I already had that. It shows my set temp and then shows the actual temp, cycles on and off as needed. Also from my hedgehog days, I had an extra thermometer, so I have that probe hanging on the cool side so I can also see the temp there (seen in pic at lower right).
