Arizona Chickens

Hello Arizona people I just came by to say hello and let you know I am praying for you who were affected by the dust storm. It looked terrifying.
Thank you for caring. My husband and I were coming back home after his doctor appointment and got stuck in it. With the mixture of the dust and the rain it was like mud when we ran the windshield washers.

Most of the people that had pulled over to the side of the road didn't turn their lights off and keep their foot off the brakes like they are supposed to do in this situation. Leaving those on gives the appearance of having another lane on the shoulder when it's hard to see.

Thanks! We only caught the edge of the storm and we're 50 miles from Phoenix!

Dust storms are worst for those caught driving (like Bluebaby) or just outside.

With one duststorm we had, I accidentally left a small window over the tub/shower open just a crack. (The opening was 1/2" by 6.") Thankfully, the shower curtain was drawn across. But my tub was completely coated with about 1/4" of dirt.

The following 12-second video was a time-lapse that my son set-up (many years ago) to catch a duststorm.

Thank you for your concern. Yes, it is scary if you ate out on the road during one. I will watch that video after the nurse leaves from stopping by to check out my husband's wound and helps to change the bandaging this morning.

Early birds that weren't supposed to hatch until Saturday. (Blue gold duckwing leghorns).

Hello peeps! I haven't been on in quite awhile, but wanted to jump on here and see if there are any local Feed Co op type things available in southern AZ, Maricopa area, or Phoenix area. We finally moved out to the country and got away from Phoenix which means I have room for more birds! But it also means I need a more affordable way to feed all of them. Lol. These weekly trips to Tractor Supply are killing me in this economy. Who knows the secrets to cheaper feed?!

I get mine from tractor supply, because this new one isn't so far away from me. What breeds do you have? Bigger breeds consume more feed. That's one of the reasons why I switched to doing leghorns, as they are more feed to egg efficient I've been told.

I'm up to 7 newly hatched chick's now with one more egg left in the incubator. The 17 three and a half week old chick's in the grow out pen are doing well too.

I took Serene in for her 6 week nail trim earlier this afternoon. She got a doggy treat back at home for being a good girl.

I have lots of different breeds and lots of breeding projects I'm working on. I have both chickens and ducks. So just trying to look at better options because we have so many.

Edited to add I have both Bantams and standard size chickens and different breeds of both chickens and ducks.
