Arizona Chickens

Thanks! I wasn't able to get pics of all of them. They are so active and keep moving around.
Any instances of fowl pox right now where you live? Mosquitos are everywhere and our flock is having a terrible time, molting and fowl pox at the same time. The leghorns seem barely affected and the Bielefelders are doing pretty well with it but the Australorps, RIRs, and especially our poor EEs have the pox pretty bad. I feel awful for them.😢 I'm giving them plenty of protein (tuna, sardines, salmon, beef, grubs) and added some Chick'n Aid to their water but most have stopped laying and they look so unhappy.

Mine are still young. I haven't noticed any mosquitoes around after the rain here, but we didn't get a bunch of it. Even though all of my chicks are different colored, they are still leghorns.

One of our RIRs is clear of the pox, woohoo!

Do any of you think the rain that's hitting soCal right now is going to make it to us? The forecast says it might get here on Sunday then sporadically over the week but when I look at the radar map the weather system seems to be moving northward, not eastward.

I just watched the weather report on fox news. Yes, our highest chance for rain will be on Sunday.

Well, I was way off because it started raining this afternoon as soon as we removed the roof of one of the walk-in pens. 🤦‍♀️ Fortunately the hens had been moved into a different pen (with a roof). It kept raining all afternoon while we worked on it. But as I always say I'm Irish and the rain can't hurt me ☘️💪 so we finished the roof while it rained, then returned the hens to their home with a new roof, and now it has stopped raining and we're inside eating pizza. 🍕

We got some rain yesterday and today here, and like you, I was working outside, doing yard work. It wasn't raining enough to get in the way, just kept me cool and my new plants happy after being transplanted from pots to ground - so nice and a perfect timing <3
