Arizona Chickens

Good Morning Arizona:frow, I got a little rain last night. Not much but I will take it. Smells good outside.

I have a Sultan, pure white and he is a he. Does any one have Sultans? I thought he was a silkie when I purchased him. Here is a pic.

I'm trying to find out all about them.

Not til spring but what makes you think she got ate? Don't forget she is a cochin and they REALLY like to go broody. Maybe she's got a hiding spot? Oh and a lot of birds are molting right now so fluffy feathers might not be a good indication that she got ate. Now if you have found bunches of top feathers and stuff then that's probably not a good thing. Unless you know for sure she got ate don't give up hope. Look in some of the strangest places cause they like to hunker down and hide when they go broody. Sometimes they won't appear for days and days if they appear at all while they have eggs. Heck I have a bantam right now trying to hatch a ball of poop. She refuses to let me clean that box and gets mean with me over it. So there she shall sit on her ball o' poop at least til the rain is over.

Well here are my new arrivals I got 6 Cochins 3blue/3black & the rest Jersey Giants the brown 1 is an off shoot of color in a Giant Maria Hall the breeder says she gets 1 like that in every 200 she usually culls them since i am not showing I am keeping it will go in my coop of misfit chickens!!!

Well, it finally rained. I put the heat on to keep my baby chicks warm. The wife is still having hot flashes, so she turns it off. She is 65 years old, so that should come to an end soon.

I went out to feed the chickens, and they were all wet. They are either too stupid or inexperienced to get into the coop. It has been a long time since we had rain, maybe they forgot how it all goes.

Let's see how long the rain last. Last winter we had hardly any winter grass and weeds. So far, it looks like this winter will be the same. Sure glad I am not in the cattle business.

Well if all goes well they will be ready for you on the 1st of February... how does that sound?

no I hatched them the eggs where shipped except the cochins where from my flock already sold them or actually traded for a red golden male I needed. The Jerseys I am keeping.I now have 3 lines to breed from now.

Missed the tornado warning but its VERY windy here with TONS of dust... all the rain has gone north of us now.. but it did rain most of the day.

Must not have put much rain down with all of the dust we are getting.

From what I see on the radar, looks like we have one more little intense line coming through with in the next couple of hours and then it should be cool sunshine tomorrow with showers forecast Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

It's crazy windy and rainy out my way in the lower east valley!! I'm so worried for my girls out there, I keep looking out the window with a flashlight to make sure they're ok. I need to see about more protection from the wind and rain, all day though they just stood right in it when there was dry spots to be... go figure. we'll see what damage the storm took on my trees and everythin else in the mornin. not sure how well i'm gonna sleep... pretty violent wind!
