Well, judging is complete. I had a non chicken person do the final judging. Anyway, I still have two little sculptures to paint. I know what color Im going to do one of them but the other Im up in the air. At least I have most of the day. I will announce the winners later tonight or this evening.

This was a very very very hard contest to judge. with over 400 pics it wasnt easy. I hope the winners will like thier new little Grumpy Hens

My son is serving an LDS mission. It's what we do. I spent two years in Ecuador when I was his age, my wife spent 18 months in England, my eldest son spent two years in Oregon teaching in Spanish and now #2 in Hungary for two years.

You whole family sounds very dedicated and this is something to be proud of.

Is it a tradition in your family? Do you go along with a church too? This is really interesting to me so I hope you don't mind me asking.

Are you a native Arizonan, RRR? (also not trying to be rude

Many members of the LDS faith go on missions. Men usually go for 2 years, women often go for 18 months. Most of my male friends went before college, while my female friends (if they went on a mission) went after their first 2 years of college. I am unsure if there is an age requirement.

You will often see LDS missionaries around town--folks from other places that are sent to AZ--pairs of young men, nicely dressed in dark slacks, white shirts, and a dark tie. Sometimes on a bike, sometimes not. Offer them a greeting and a drink of water if you see a pair

LDS is an abbreviation for "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" Also know as "Mormon's". www.mormon.org is a website with basic info if you are curious.

Mahonri-I didn't mean to steal your thunder---I just understand where RRR is coming from

RRR- I didn't learn about the church until I went to Jr High, when they combined all the elementary schools. I grew up in Gilbert, which had a high population of LDS families. Turns out, all the friends I grew up with just ASSUMED I was LDS, and was in a different stake then their own. So, it had never come up. ANYWAY-that is when I acquired my interest in religions....It is about time for me to re-read the "big" books.

I can relate to that, up until my last year of highschool I guess none of my friends knew I came from a Jewish family (again, not religious though). It just never came up? Haha I don't know. Anyway, I just find religions very interesting.
