We have wild parakeets and sometimes flocks of parrots in our neighborhood.

Great day to be alive. DS #1 comes home today for a short part of his summer vacation.

Drill, fill and bill for 4 hours and then home to do yard work in the heat!

Yeah, that is all well and good, but there a TON of Aloha pullets, half of which take after their mommas (largish banty) and half after Vanilla (gynourmous white thingy). Silly girls are all ready to lay...any time now. Could be any of these girls:

I suspect the culprit of the pullet bullet (and it IS super-pointy) is either my avatar Sassafrass or Bitsy. Patch has been mating Sassy for a while now, and I saw him cover Bitsy last night. She shook it off like an old pro.

Mahonri- Fugly Duckling decided to crow yesterday--dude's got a voice like a TUUUUBAAAA. If he kept the low crow, it be worth keeping him around just for the laughs. When FD crowed, Patch looked at him & shook his head.

I would put them away. Sometimes the irrigation can get kinda deep and I unfortunately know all too well that chickens don't do well treading water. Long story

In all seriousness they might not do what you think is the logical thing to do.

their bone structure shouldn't change just because they're on hiatus. ramp up her protein and she should start up again soon enough. unless she's sick or molting..

Having had children, I suspect my rear is NOT going to go back to pre-baby pelvic svelte-ness. I suspect the chooks have the same issue.


Nessa- I went to The Feed Barn today-- would have called you, but I had a feverish toddler in one arm, and the Evil Ender completely out of control. I saw the Polish you were talkng about. He was a heart-stopper, but TOTALLY not helpful to the Aloha. Darn. He was a silver-spangled polish with an overlay of blue barring and some golden barring on the head /neck area. BEEEAAAUTIFUL horn comb and a full tophat. But, not for the Alohas.

I ended up getting 2 gold sex-links (cinnamon queens) to see if their "mottling" reacts differently with the weird Aloha "mottling". Ask me in 8 months
