I use half a paper towel per egg. Then in egg crates (large eggs like yours should probably spaced apart so they can't touch eachother) then I fill any empty spaces with paper towels then wrap the carton in bubble wrap . I run newspaper thru the shredder and pack the bottom of tge box with newspaper, put eggs in, and pack it tightly with shredded newspaper so the eggs can not move. If there is any movement, I will add clean pine shavings (and tell them so it doesn't make a huge mess)

thanks noskiveez i package the eggs
the way you told me, hopefully the post office
does not break them, do you write fragile
on the outside

Not unless requested. And I never label them as eggs. It seems like the sockets abuse the boxes purposely whe I have labeled them as eggs. I've had two boxes labeled as eggs and both had alot of eggs break. Since I toned down on the labels, more arrive intact. My last box, I sent 30 only 1 had small fractures. I always generously send extras to help off set if an egg gets broken.

pastrymama have you tried the duck eggs yet, and how were they? re: the new chicks, they are like chips, there's always room for one(or 7) more, so if you can't get rid of them I'll take them.

Laree You know, there are certified genius' among us, and then there are the certifiable.

I think you should definitely hatch the emu, and then if you don't have room for it board it at my place.

I have said this...also I have eggs that I ordered under my desk right now that my husband doesn't know about..I unboxed them this morning and I will put them in tomorrow morning

dh orders car parts and books, and I know when he asks me to wathc for delivery. Putting eggs into the incubator, or purchasing chickens is my deal. Forst time I had some shipped in, he went to the airport PO with me--was nearly as excited as me. That was a long tme ago...

Many, many, MANY years ago, far, far FAR away I had mulberry trees that bore fruit. Came homeone dday to find mulberries splattered on my sidewalk.. At first I balamed the neighboring kids--eventually I fgured it out. But I have NO idea what the pre-fruit stage looked like. Sorry. If one has to suffer a ulberry tree, it should at least be female and bear berries.

Busy weekend built 2 new coops I am soooo.... not the builder, but We have 3 more to build!! Was wondering if anyone locally has some fertile BO eggs for sale? I will post pics of my Bob the non builder coops later, so everyone can have a chuckle & no the camera is not crooked its the eye of the builder LOL!!!

EXACTLY what my thinking is. I got these as seedlings from a friends dad & swore I'd wait to put them in the ground until I KNEW it would be worth it. My plan it to put one in the coop & the only other yard it will hang over the fence into has a big peach tree right thereso they're used to fallen fruit & birds eating it. I have 2 trees, but I'm 1- not sure yet if the other will bear fruit, and 2- not sure I want to deal with 2 mulberry trees! We'll see... I will keep them in a pot a while loner & watch those spiny things with my fingers crossed!

Kyle will feel sooo much better! This is the first one we have built, and it's not exactly all 90 degrees either. Who knew that when you make the entire front a door, it's too heavy and sags? Still fine tuning that part

He was like, you aren't posting a picture of that are you? It was definitely a learning process with lots of things done not as planned because of problems, but it all worked out. We also learned that our staple gun is really not high enough power to go completely into real wood, made putting the wire on a challenge. I love it though!!! Who cares if there is a little crooked going on? The lumbar is all really good quality and it's super sturdy, so that is all that matters. I still have to paint it up and make it snazzy.
