.-.Chicken story.-.
Hi folks, long time no post...
I have had my hands full lately between work, haboob clean up and some intensive chicken care. Our favorite had a baad prolapse/egg binding necessitating a vet call. The vet got the egg out but she kept prolapsing and ended up with some necrosis/dead tissue internally. Dr. Burke prescribed Baytril orally and some kind of antibiotic cream up the hoo-hoo 2x a day, which has not been fun.
The interesting thing about all of this is having her inside, as she's just too weak to deal with the other Ladies or the heat. She's a pretty awesome indoor pet, actually.
She loves to sit in laps and on shoulders, 'talks' to us when we walk by, come home from work, etc. She also purrs in contentment when I hold her! I had never heard her make that noise before....it's the sweetest sound, kind of like a squeaky cat.
I don't know if she's going to make it - she's very weak and thin, although she has started eating again (a lot) and wanting to wander when she's out of her kennel. She has trouble with balance, can't jump and falls easily. I'm hoping if she puts a little weight on and keeps improving that her strength and balance will return. One thing is for sure - she is one tough little OEGB!
Another thing, like a cat, she likes to be the center of attention, and will walk between me and the computer screen, stand on the keyboard, look me in the face and purr.
I sure hope she makes it.
