They are at that. They are so friendly as well. They all jump in my lap and "nest". I hope they continue doing that as adults. I have a BO that wants to be picked up and loved on. She is the only one of the established gals that wants attention.

Thanks so much for those beautiful brahmas... wish I would have PM'd you sooner so I could have purchased the meredith Ameraucanas. They were real pretty.

Aren't they Beautiful!! I felt like a kid in a candy store and very proud of myself for resisting temptation and only coming home with 2.

Arizonachicken, Congratulations on the baby! It could happen any day now, how exciting! You could plant grapes here in Tucson right now, but I'm not sure about Scottsdale. The higher temps are tough on them. I'd definitely do it in the next couple months or so to give it time settle in before the first freeze. Here's a link to info for growing grapes in Maricopa Co.: http://members.cox.net/omiller.1/MC59_backyard_grapes.pdf I'm not crazy about the tone of the article, but it has the essential info you need.

nurseshelly, it sounds like you had Grape Leaf Skeletonizers: http://ag.arizona.edu/maricopa/garden/html/pubs/mar98p1-4.pdf. If I had them, I'd spray them with Bt. The great thing about grape vines is that they are so hardy.

Mama Hen Chris, How cute!!! They are definitely going to be some very spoiled birds!

Has anyone heard from cluckin_crazy recently? I'm wondering how she and her little scrapper are doing.

As I've said, I'm learning, so please forgive the "newbness" of my questions....

Do you clip wings if you have a full enclosure?

Anne.

I never have clipped wings, but do have bird netting and shade cloth across the top of my run. We have hawks here.

They are in an enclosed run or tractor when I am at work but they free range when I am home but I don't sit out there constantly. They can get up on top of the coop which is 6' high and then it would be a hop over the wall if they had a mind to do it (they haven't yet, thank the Lord).

There are 3 of the 7 that I still haven't clipped yet. I also just want to be in practice of handling them so if there are other issues that require closer inspection neither of us get too excited about it! I've only had hens since May so I'm a newbie too!
