Arizona Chickens

LOL I have developed bursitis in my left arm from lifting too much. Too many things in chickens are 50#. Sand, food, full water pail. So I can't do too much. I have to have my hubby do most lifting over 20 pounds until it's better. So I figure I could help for a bit here and there without making it worse. Otherwise I could help all day.

To get your bursitis better you must lift nothing heavier than a wineglass. Or coffee cup one Saturday morning.

I wish it worked that way

Thank you for the nice thought though!!!

Meg, I am more than willing to come to a coop raising, but would probably prefer it to be a time that DH is hiking or climbing. Not this Saturday, because I am, once again, a day off. I THOUGHT DS left for e-camp on Thursday (this morning), but then found out it was Friday, only to learn that in actuality it is Saturday. I had the dates correct, just poorly paired with where they actually fall on the calendar.

First Saturday in October we're having an Arizona Poultry Organization show in my neighborhood park. We are hoping for a licensed judge, but still working on getting one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. We have always said "if it has feathers, we'll judge it." There will be a raffle, showmanship for kids and adults, and other fun stuff. In adult showmanship, the (usually older) kids are testing the adults knowledge; most of the time the kids know a lot more than we ancient ones, and that is always a riot to watch.

How did I do?

Anne.

ETA: Whoops.... I must've pasted something badly there! All fixed!

I'm working on it. If all else fails I'll partially dismantle the existing pen and make a 4 x 8 pen for while I'm gone and then get on it again when I get back. At least then they'll have a bit of space, a mister, a nipple waterer, and a big bucket of food.

My landscape watering system is trashed and the grass is mostly dead. Have to take care of that again too. Grrrr. I'll be up by 5AM tomorrow getting busy.

Hi Meg,
I have 20 trash cans that fit the 50# bags with room to spare. I also put my shavings in one, and it will fit the 28 (I think that was it) cubic feet package, just barely ... it takes up the whole thing! Lowes has them. I don't know about poultry netting, but they have all kinds of shade cloth at lowes too, which is what we have over the run.

I have a trash barrel that I got at Ace Hardware for about $15, maybe a year ago. It holds three 50lb bags with room to spare. Also has wheels

What do you mean by poultry netting? Chicken wire? Bird netting? Something else?
