Arizona Chickens

wish me luck! we are setting the trap tonight and shooting the contents!!! I found some feathers finally from the missing lav orpington hen. It is an all out war now. I am suprised at how happy I will be to hear those gun shots in the morning, That is so not like me. I haven't ate meat since I was 14...which is only a FEW years ago. I am a major animal lover...but they have done ticked me off!!!

Beckyhsinglsc, that was such a tragic story.

I'm so sorry that happened, especially to birds you cared for for so long. It's so nice to see you back though and congratulations on sending your daughter off to college. Oh, I know something you might have missed--but I don't remember if you gardened or not. We're having a BYC AZ thread seed exchange. It's free, you don't have to contribute to it to take from it and it's coming to a BYC member near you soon: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=6874747#p6874747 (see post #14628).

Memphisjourney2seramas, good luck with the trap tonight! You know, you're not supposed to mention your age in the forums, but since you are now 18, we'll let that pass.

I think there was an episode about that on Judge Judy. Girl said she'd watch the livestock, didn't show up, livestock didn't do great, and she got the pants sued off of her. It would be so awesome if you could get him in big trouble. I bet there is a way to find out the owner of the phone.

Anyways... I'm sorry. He sounds like a terrible person.

Unbelievable! I'm so sorry about your chickens. People can be so thoughtless, not realizing what they think is a harmless joke can devastate someone's family. I sure hope he got the message.

On a general subject, I just heard back from the HOAs I thought allowed chickens and they said no.

I'm a little worried to check my email now because my response was maybe a little too bold. While I thanked them for promptly answering, I was disappointed to find they found cats allowed to wander and mark the neighborhood as their own to be a more acceptable pet because they are common household pets, opposed to chickens that are less common but are confined and provide many benefits such as providing eggs and meat and eating table scraps to cut down on food waste. Then I proceeded to say I heard of an HOA in San Tan Valley that was a bright light in the dismal mosaic of HOA communities because it allowed chickens, but was unsure which one it was specifically, hoped it was theirs and was disappointed to find it was not. I did end by saying that I would respect their rules, though. I'm just a little ashamed of my outspokenness, though... I'm only like that when I'm writing. Oh well, the search continues. If all else fails and I can't find the HOA in San Tan Valley that allows chickens, it's more important that my family and I get into a house, so chickens will have to wait.

The SCNA Rep for Arizona is also a realtor; I'll bet she can find you a home in SanTan where chickens are allowed.

Tell her to look in the petite department, not the junior department. The clothes tend to be a bit more mature in design, and she should be able to find something that will work. Petites tend to be a bit curvier than juniors--more on the line of regular ladies, but smaller sizes. Different brands, though can tend to fit quite a bit differently--especially on pants. Used to be that anything smaller than a 6 was rare, but I almost always see 4s now, and frequently 2s and even 0s. There is a trend to move the sizes down, though, and me, who hasn't really changed from a size 6 in the last 40 years am sometimes finding that 6s swamp me, and I have to go to a 4.

TT! :

I wish. I'm old. I even have wrinkles!!!

I can see them if I squint.

I guy walks into a doctor's office and says, "Doctor, doctor! It hurts when I do this!"

Doctor looks at the guy and says, "Don't do that."
