What kind of school did you go to that teaches all that?!

He he he. I went to medical school in OK. We go on a lot of rural rotations.

It does not have a mural? Maybe if it had some teletubbies to make the chickies smarter?

LOL I told DH that I wanted to make a mural! Teletubbies. possibly. You think they would make the chickies smarter? I think they know already how to wrap us around their little chicken fingers.

You know, I think it needs one of those Mobiles with little singing birds on it. And, a stereo system that plays classical music/foreign language tapes.

Yesterday I posted this on the egg laying behavior forum. I thought it was really cool to see:

I noticed an interesting behavior with my young OEGB gentleman and his newly laying pullet today. He was " guarding" outside of her nest box for a long time and then went into the box and lay down with her until she finished laying her egg.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior in their roosters?

I've never seen anything like this before. Has anybody here ever seen their rooster guard while their hens lay an egg, much less lay in the nest box with them?

I'm home again! Missed everyone as BIL couldn't remember the internet access passcode

We had a good time at the beach and park and tide pools and Aunties house. Even drove to Palmdale to see a good friend. Actually, my oldest friend!
It was cool.

So WELCOME New Peeps.

Mikey, Wow. I mean, wow. That's the coolest coop ever.
The one with the murals? Too too much.

Mahonri, good to read your posts again.

PastryMama & Mahonri - Don't catch it! Be well!

Laree, we have to get together quick before you go full time!

Everyone else...I missed you!

My sprouts are all growing, I need to spend some quality time in the garden.

Well remember I am gonna do the Purina 60 day challenge? Well Wickenburg never made my order

So I got on line and found a really nice place called Dale's Town and Country at Waddell and Litchfield roads in Surprise!

Very nice clean place and the price for the Purina that was to cost 17.99 for 50# in Wickenburg cost 14.49 for 50# before using our 3.00 off coupon. A very pleasant surprise to say the least and they are a short 25 miles from our door in the same general area we shop anyway as well as bank.

I have never seen such a busy feed store and as a result the feed we got is very fresh with no weevils which are common this time of year in feed stored for a long spell.

Anyway will update as we do this challenge and we are switching from Nutrena in our little test.

So far only thing we have really noticed is that our chickens really like these new pellets and that is a good thing....

To Gallo,

I have some of the San Diego Tomatoes sprouted as well as the others you put into the seed box and will be planting into a sheltered/coverable section of the garden and thank you!

2 questions, cold hardiness?

How do they do as patio?

Thanks in advance, Bill

I really don't know! I just planted them for the first time last spring (in the ground). They produced a good way through the heat this summer and then I finally pulled them to make space for the winter plants. I have some new ones growing in pots on the patio so I'll get you updated on how they do as the cold weather comes on. BTW, I really liked the biker chicks avatar, they always made me laugh.

mclevinson, I also had problems with getting the tomato seeds to sprout. I finally did get a few. TT! didn't have any problems at all sprouting hers.

Hi Everyone!
The past few days have been busy crazy! I'm trying to get the aviary fixed up so the quail can get moved in. Bought me a new jig saw...he he.. to cut the wire quicker! Gonna tear into it tonight!

The babies have been hatching all weekend, it's not been a great hatch, no thanks to the mail man.
