You are welcome. There was talk a while back about getting together as a group as well and do the tour.

Luckily, New River is a tad cooler than Phoenix proper, Best advise: LOTS OF SHADE for the chickens... and in New River you'll have to have a VERY WELL BUILT and PREDATOR proof coop and run. I know of a person in that area that lost their chickens to a mountain lion... tore right into the coop and ate all of his chickens. Good luck.

Broody hen and the three chicks she hatched, ranging from a 9 to 14 days old:

It's amazing how much quieter these chicks are than the first batch (including said broody) that we raised. The last batch was just raised in a brooder box, and these three are being raised by a broody... methinks both hen and chicks are happier this way. Still not sure how long we'll leave the hen in with them; I know in a best case scenario she'll tell us when she's ready to let them be. But we don't have space for a big enough brooder in the house, and when these chicks start really growing it's going to get crowded in that box really fast. The fact that they're bantams should buy us some time on that front, though.

Awww...so sweet! I wish one of mine would go broody...I have several eggs that she could sit on for me.

I have one egg in the bator that managed to make it this far...day 19. I just hope it makes it till the end...I am trying to think positive (it will hatch, it will hatch, it will hatch...)

The kids are SUPER excited...so excited that we had to go buy 2 baby chicks yesterday so that the new chick will have friends...Hubby doesn't understand this logic, but my wonderful little girls do

See...even little kids can understand chicken math/logic.

(Well, Daddy! What if this egg doesn't hatch? We'll be sooo let down & so sad. So now, we still get a baby chick to make us happy. You want us to be happy...right?) HAHAHA...words of my 10 year old...LOVE her!!!

(Come on Dad, it's jussss 2 'ittle ones. Geez!) words of my almost 6 year old.
