Thanks for all the feedback! It looks like I'm not going to worry about worms until I see signs that my chickens actually have them.

I have never had their poo checked. I feel like if they act and look healthy(and keep laying eggs), they are dealing with whatever might come along and don't need my help.
That's why I didn't immediately deworm them when I saw the initial sign in the poo a few weeks ago.
Since the egg a week ago, I have been giving them pepper flakes and squash seeds.

We order our Valbazen online, but I am almost out and do not have enough to do all my birds and have spent a couple hours trying to find it locally in a liquid form.... Many places have never heard of Albendazol or the brand name Valbazen?????

Still calling around, but does anyone know where one can buy W/O a script in the valley? Really don't want to wait for shipping this time as they need it now! Darn I should have ordered more to have on hand, but.....

Beckyhsinglsc, that would really creep me out to find one in an egg.

If I found evidence of worms, I wouldn't hesitate to medicate them either.

southerndesert, I too would wonder if they came in with the birds you rescued. Perhaps the poor condition that you originally found them in contributed to their susceptibility. I hope you can find the medication quickly. BTW, $11/sample sounds pretty good! Not cheap enough for a flock your size though.

the only place that i have found the valbazen is jeffers. can they do a quick ship to you? surely with 40 birds, there must be something else you need to order. i can think of a few things i need if you want to combine shipping. is the problem THAT BAD that it can't wait a few days? i wormed mine in the summer 3 times in a row, 10 days apart right before you got the 4 from me. i used valbazen twice and then pour on eprinex for anything external. i had taken in mahonri's wheaton marans and it's just routine to go through the motions when bringing in a new bird(s) for me. i hope that those tapes aren't coming from the 4 you got from me.

i read somewhere that the horsepaste with the pranziquantal(sp?) will take care of tapes. i think it's a generous pea size in the beak, don't know what the egg withdrawl is. that you could find locally today and then hit then with valbazen in 10.

I called Tatum Drugs/Pharmacy and unfortunately you need a script but they do have Valbazen in powder form and just need to mix according to the script. Kristin said once she gets the script, it would be ready in one hour. Sorry if I can't be anymore help.
