Arizona Chickens

Anyone else up this late Saturday evening???

I'm totally taking out my complete and total boredom on you guys. I usually have socialization with my parents on late nights like these, but they went to Sedona for the weekend, and so I'm am completely wired because I have nobody to talk to....well, except for my brother. But he just runs out every now and then, grabs another Mountain Dew and goes running back into his room, screaming into his headseat for his Xbox. Yep. What my entire weekend, thus far, has been like. LOL

On the plus side, I tend to bake a lot when I can't sleep. So far I have 8 dozen caramel apple cookies and just started baking the chocolate chips...and tomorrow, lemon bars!

I think the neighbor dog just killed all my chooks except the one crazy bugger that always escapes the coop. Does anyone have surplus hens?

Also I haven't been around lately how's everyone doing?

I'm up but I wish I were asleep.

Spent LONG hours in the yard today. Wish it looked like it does now all of the time, (I really need a regular pool man) but then I walk out and think... Oh those oleanders need trimming again and I really need to build a grow out pen... etc.., etc... etc...

I just finished getting Sunday dinner ready to go into the oven tomorrow morning.

So sorry that MaryAnn lost her Barred Rock. She thinks it may have been the Valbazen... I don't think it was.

Joel David... long time no see!

So sorry about your loss.

I have a few I could part with... some are just molting....

I'm hoping Laree's bator is working real well and that the eggs aren't all busted up inside and those will be my replacements.

Thanks, Mahonri. I don't blame the valbazen, but am wondering if I either overdosed her, or her system was so overloaded with worms, that any dewormer might have killed her? It's just such a coincidence, that she was fine yesterday when I dewormed her and then tonight she is dead.

My 2 Barred Rocks were like the grandmas of the flock (one is 3 years old and the one that died was 2). They always hung out together like best buds - I'm sad to have lost one of the pair.

I have never lost a hen to Valbazen or any other worm medication, but have heard of heavy worm load causing death after worming as you mentioned in rare cases though I have never seen it. Sorry you lost a hen....
